Log 21 | filtered to a certain frequency in Solare, hard to hack

I cannot speak for long, but I've a favor to ask of you. With what resources you've available, would it be possible to determine if there has been any out of the ordinary criminal activity in Solare? In particular, I am looking for a group that has made threats against the middle to upper classes. Perhaps they have held protests for the ( Read more... )

With all due respect, Lord Solidor, crime is hardly out of the ordinary for Solare. However, there are a few groups who could be responsible for these recent troubles. I need but a moment to confirm some information with my colleagues on current events. Tell me, though, how familiar are you with the Ensemble?

Yes, you do raise a good point.

The name is familiar, but I'm afraid I know very little of them. Have you any reason to suspect them?

I speak of the Dignified Ensemble of Reial's Proletariat, though their dignity exists in name alone. They're a group of young fools, full of more noise than sense. However, while they aren't as peaceful as they claim, their crimes are rather petty in comparison to the troubles on your ship. As far as I know, their worst crimes involve minor vandalism, disturbing the peace, and vulgar insults towards policemen's mothers.

Unfortunately, there are other men and women with similar goals and more unsavory methods.

They've already infiltrated the ship, and I imagine this must have required some measure of stealth to bypass our crew in order to tamper with the ship's piping system. If this Ensemble is as you say, I am not entirely convinced they've the skill to carry out such a cunning operation.

If cunning and violence is what you want, then I think I know some potential suspects. Your ship, its full of Ivonian military personnel, yes?

That is correct.

There's another group, the Rusted Gears, that became active some twenty years ago. They never extended far beyond Solare, but they were known for harboring anti-Ivonian radicals and malcontents. They've been silent for some time, but there's rumors that they've found newfound support amongst the Vohemaros. The mayors don't endorse them - at least, not officially - but funds have been trickling down from Berum and Colvus in the guise of aid. I would be unsurprised if they had something to do with this mess, especially in light of King Bradley's fate. However, they aren't the only players in this foul city.

And so it seems the Vohemaro-Ivonian conflicts grow greater yet. This worries me. There are so many of whom we could hold responsible, but the hardest task of all will be to determine who is behind the sabotage aboard our ship.

And what of King Bradley's fate? What is the word on the street?

That's the most worrying part, my lord. Bradley is still unaccounted for. Some men speak of murder, but those men are fools. Considering the circumstances, a kidnapping or hostage situation is much more likely.

Yes... I was afraid you would say that.

There is something that has been on my mind for some time. In that broadcast, it had been mentioned that we had invited crooks into our banquet hall some weeks ago. This might imply those responsible had been right under our noses, and we had simply allowed them to board our ship without question. No doubt we would not have suspected outside caterers were part of a plan to bring the ship to ruin. And this would mean they would need access to uniforms, would it not?

Whoever is behind all this must have been planning this from the very moment the vessel first set sail. For them to have slipped past our radar and infiltrated the ship to tamper with our plumbing so easily... We cannot underestimate their intelligence.

See what you can uncover about the Rusted Gears. Something tells me those responsible hold more than a mere grudge.

You make excellent points. You are dealing with a cunning and dangerous foe, Lord Solidor. I must ask you to be careful.

One last thing, though, my lord. There is a third name you may want to keep your ears open for: The Trials of Labor. They've been around for a few years and were mostly docile and peaceful, but have started to make a bit more of a racket recently. Rumor has it that a strange man from your home country of Erealia was recently accepted into their ranks and may have something to do with their behavior.

I will keep not only my ears, but my eyes, open. You have been most helpful. I greatly appreciate your aid, as I cannot investigate when I am to remain aboard the ship. And if Erealia is now involved in these acts of terrorism... I cannot sit idle.

The Ensemble, the Rusted Gears, and The Trials of Labor.... There must be something we may dig up. If you hear something, please let me know.
