I printed off the draft of the book on thursday/friday. And spent all of yesterday and today making the hand-written edits as I went.
Writing this is SUCH a different experience then running a R.P.G., which is the closest things I have on an artistic basis. It seems that games reward different qualities then writing does. Both are based on imagination and story telling, but writing seems so much more... rigourous. I can write down some notes and run a pretty good game with a wing and a prayer, just counting on the feel of the situation, and instant creativity to carry you. Writing is much much less forgiving then that. If I stop, it stops, and when I do it not know where it is going, it just shits all over the place.
Anyway, I'm surprisingly happy with what I've got. It's getting rather hard to see, sort of like the person is after you have known them for awhile. You can still see them, but becuase you know them so well they partake in a sort of strange invisibility. I'm going to do the edits I need when I get up and have coffee tomorrow, and send them out tomorrow night/monday to a few people. I'm interesting to get the feedback returned to see if it's got the merit I think it does. It still needs a LOT of work, but I think there is a kernal of good underlaying it. On monday after I send it out, it's back to writing, I want to hit a another milestone I have before I go to RENO, so I can just work on plot/characterization there.
