Right from the start, I knew that I'd found a home for my heart [For itconsumesher]

Damon had closed the bar for the night. No offense to anyone who wanted to get their Valentine's Day rocks off by being vamp bait, but they'd have to do it Friday night. Tonight, he had different plans, and they did not include either him or his assistant manager being at work. He hadn't really known how to arrange the time, honestly. Inviting at least Elijah over had seemed like something he should do. After all, the night had some meaning for all of them. But there was something he wanted to do, something that was something he wasn't sure he could do in front of Elijah without making him feel left out. Of course, not inviting him would do that, too.

Elijah settled it for him by asking if they could do something on Friday, because he wasn't certain he really felt comfortable leaving Kol alone, and Klaus would be busy with Faye, so if all three of them disappeared on him while the village celebrated not being alone...well. Damon suspected he was also just trying to give him alone time with Rebekah, but he didn't call him on it, just kissed him and demonstrated how very happy he was to have him in his life, breaking a ceramic statue of a raven that had been on the edge of his desk in the process.

Elijah did prove to be very helpful in getting Rebekah out of the room later, though, sweeping her off for a day of pampering and family time. Damon had suggested shopping, as well, which had mostly just amused Elijah.

He'd ordered them dinner--human food, but excellent--rare steak and whipped potatoes with real truffle oil. A couple of bottles of blood-wine were ready, as well, and he'd actually made dessert himself - a layered white and dark chocolate mousse topped with ripe strawberries. The black, white and red theme was reflected in how he'd decorated the room: red and white candles in ebony and onyx candle holders were everywhere; black and red roses in white vases were strategically placed. The table cloth was black with red place mats and napkins and white plates.

The fire was lit, and it, plus the copious candles, provided the light for the room. At her place sat a small black velvet box, tied up in red and white satin ribbons. And as for the host, well. Near everything he owned was black and red, anyway, and tonight he'd gone with black leather pants instead of jeans and his favorite red silk shirt. Nothing unusual, perhaps, but he knew what he looked good in.

Now, all he needed was his lady.
