"Spike doesn't play with the other puppies anymore."

"What's the sodded point, anyhow," I muttered to myself, staring out into the mist laden street down which I walked, right down the middle where they painted those pretty yellow lines. I pulled a drag off my cigarette and blew a long puff of black smoke. My voice turned sarcastic with energy. "Let's save the world, Spike! C'mon, it'll be fun! Pff. ( Read more... )

"I'll have you know, missy, that this package has done more than its share above and beyond the call of duty! That's right! There hasn't been a complaint one yet from any maiden who's had the pleasure of sharin' it! Well, that's.. y'know, still.. viable."

I rolled my eyes again when I listened to him. I seem to do that a lot when he's around -- had the pleasure, yeah.. whatever. Of course, what would little Safi know about that area? I never even KISSED a boy in my life because I was always busy training. Not like I'm EVER going to say that.. yeah, last thing I would want to get out in the open with this guy. "Whatever you said," I said, my sarcasm never leaving the tone in my voice, ".. I just have seen better."

Why was I talking about this with him? Can we just drop the conversation about penises and his sex life here? I sighed and just stayed quiet. Rather not have us going at it again but I had to admit, insulting him was fun. It was him insulting me that made it not so very enjoyable.

"... sorry, mate."

What? Huh? I turned my head to look at him AGAIN with disbelief written all over my face. Did he just say the 's' word? One I thought he would never be capable of? Well, I thought I had him figured out in the little time I was with him but it's true when they say people will never cease to amaze you. "Did I hear what I think you just said?" I questioned as I placed my hand over my chest with a gasp, my voice turning mockingly shocked. ".. I think I did! ... is the world about to end?"

I snickered, seeing a town beginning to appear within the darkness. Good, good. Give it 15 more minutes and I'll be in a comfortable bed with comfortable silence.. unless he was nocturnal. Please don't be nocturnal. I don't want him bugging me all night. "It's fine," I said, jokes aside, ".. I get it all the time. Anyway, we're staying at that town ahead for the night. I'm not driving in a storm."

And I'm going to put my keys underneath my pillow so you don't leave with my car.

"Did I hear what I think you just said? I think I did! ... is the world about to end?"

'Yours is if you don't shut the sodding hell up,' I thought to myself, my eyes lifted skyward while she drolled on about it. Yeh, I knew she'd send that my way. Girl her type couldn't resist to try and throw some sort of verbal leash around the neck of a bloke like me. And why?

She liked me. Yep, ahh. I could tell.

"It's fine. ".. I get it all the time. Anyway, we're staying at that town ahead for the night. I'm not driving in a storm."

I looked out the windshield in front of me and read the upcoming road sign to see which town she was speaking of. 'Oxnard, 1 1/4 mile'. Bloody... "Are we heading to L.A.?!" I asked, knitting my brows together thoughtfully. I don't want to go to L.A.! I just bloody came from L.A.! My eyes shifted toward her. "Seekin' a trip to sodding Disneland, are we? I'm partial to Universal Studios m'self." Nothing wrong with casual chat, is there? I smiled and looked down at my hands a moment before returning my gaze, stating, "the JAWS ride is m'favorite."

William was there rolling his eyes away and I just continued to keep my silence. I just had to hold off until we got to the motel but I was beginning to feel my tummy rumble. Damn it. I was hungry. What exactly is open at this hour? I licked my lips and began thinking until his sudden outburst interrupted my thoughts.. he just doesn't stop talking, does he?

"Are we heading to L.A.?! Seekin' a trip to sodding Disneland, are we? I'm partial to Universal Studios m'self."

I blinked and looked over his way, looking back ahead as I shook my head. "I don't know where we're going," I answered bluntly, ".. err, I mean.. where I'm going." I breathed in deeply, the familiarity and surroundings of California hitting me like a brick. Where I grew up and was raised before Mr. Brown took me -- well, not here.. but it's not too far away. Wonder what my parents are doing right now. "And no.. we're not going there. I.. can't go back."

Couldn't do it.

We were beginning to pull into town. The place wasn't too big and wasn't too small.. it was just right. I might've considered staying here if I wasn't on my little quest -- not to mention this doesn't exactly look like the place Willy would like to be dropped off in. "I've never been to Disneyland," I admitted rather sadly, remembering HOW much I wanted to go when I was a kid.. but Mom and Dad never had the time despite it was only a few hours a way.

Damn it! Get the 'rents out of your head Safi before you start missing them again!

I frowned, but like he was trying to cheer me up, William commented something about liking the JAWS ride. "I love the JAWS movies," I laughed a bit, ".. 'specially the theme music." But the one sight that really cheered me up is seeing Denny's not to far ahead -- and open. Well, it looked like it. Oh man would I kill for a Grand Slam.. I'm sure I can spare a few bucks, I'll even buy if Willy is a bit hungry.

"Hey.. you up for some Denny's?" Wether you are or not, we're going.

"And no.. we're not going there. I.. can't go back."

At least something decent was coming of this. I settled back in my chair with a pleased grin on my face. Let's go to Wyoming. Never been to Wyoming. What the hell is in Wyoming? Not a sodding thing, that's what.

"I've never been to Disneyland."

"You're joking," I said with whispered surprise on my voice, flashing my gaze over to her while tapping the beat of the song on my thigh with a finger. "Everybody's gotta go ta Disneyland at least once." Bloody right! It's a buffet! "Best time of my life, there," I grinned. "My ex girlfriend used'a love the place. All the kids runnin' about.." blink.. er.. yeah, she liked to eat them. So? "Well, she liked kids, y'see. Buggered little devils," I chuckled.

Subject change time!

"I love the JAWS movies. 'specially the theme music."

"Oh this thing's great," I detailed speaking with my hands to accent my description. "Ya' in this boat, see, out in the water n' the whole bit. Then y' start ta hear that music and.."

"Hey.. you up for some Denny's?"

Interrupted, I turned my eyes out the window again and saw that obnoxious red and yellow sign hovering above the street. ".. Yeh, sure thing, mate," I said with uncertainty on my tongue though I hadn't caught it. Uncertainty from.. well.. what the hell was I supposed to eat? Undercover vampire here!
