Character Information:
Character Name: Lindsey McDonald
Age: 26
Canon: Angel the Series (TV)
Appearance: Lindsey has short brown hair and blue eyes. He's 5'10 and of medium build with excellent muscle tone (thanks to his gym workouts). His most notable feature is the fact that his right arm ends in a healed stump, his right hand having been severed by a sword in a savage melee combat with Angel. He tends to dress in crisp business suits designed by Jolee Bindo, but sometimes wears more coarse attire and even *shock/horror* cowboy boots.
Personality:
Driven by ambition, Lindsey has risen quickly up the ranks of the evil law firm Wolfram and Hart where he started out as a mail-room boy and is now an attorney at law and acting Co-Executive Vice President for the Special Projects Division.
As a hotshot highly educated lawyer, Lindsey can bedazzle you with legalese and is exceptionally good at manipulation, obfuscation and oratory debate. He excels at sizing up his opponent and going for the jugular when he has to, which usually means thinking several moves ahead in terms of his scheming.
He's also a prideful and territorial man. His harsh upbringing has taught him to be a scrapper, to play dirty when he has to and at times his temper can get the better of him. But the majority of the time, he is able to keep this uncouth side of himself tightly under wraps and hidden under a slick, unflappable, arrogant veneer. The biggest insult you could throw at him would be to call him a dumb hick or to make fun of his dirt poor origins.
He's strong-willed and doesn't like to be shown to be a fool or a loser. His determination to always be on top and win whatever battles he chooses to fight occasionally lead him to take risks, to act in a reactionary way. While a very smart guy, he often follows his gut, even when sometimes it might be reckless or illogical to do so. He can be incredibly stubborn and tenacious when he's locked on to a problem and has difficulty letting go of issues which are closest to his heart.
While both cynical and sometimes ruthless, Lindsey still possesses something of a conscience and a limit to what he personally can condone. This has led him to occasionally finding himself allying reluctantly with Angel and his team. In general, however, he's been an antagonist and enemy, making Angel's life as difficult and painful as possible. After losing his hand in a fight with Angel while trying to raise Darla, Lindsey has harbored a murderous desire to make the souled vampire pay. Even going so far as trying to get him killed, despite the Senior Partners explicitly stating they want Angel to be kept alive due to his prophecised importance in the coming Apocalypse.
Apart from Angel whom he views as something of a nemesis, Lindsey has a highly competitive and vicious rivalry with Lilah Morgan, another attorney with the firm who's been trying to scheme her way to the top. They constantly trade barbs, seek to undermine and sabotage each other's efforts when at all possible. And yet because they constantly keep each other on their toes, they also make an extremely sharp team. While Lindsey has often been the maverick, the rebellious employee who pushes the boundaries of his loyalty, Lilah has played the company gal to perfection. Which is probably why neither of them can quite understand why Holland Manners and the other higher ups in the firm seem to view Lindsey as the favorite. Even going so far as promoting him when he has a 'crisis of faith'.
In season two, Lindsey develops a romantic obsession for the newly raised human Darla. This pits him even more against Angel, whom Darla had sired and was the paramour of for more than a century. Once it becomes clear that Darla is going to die from a syphilitic heart condition, the very disease she was suffering from before she was turned, Lindsey takes matters into his own hands and has Darla forcibly turned into a vampire again by Drusilla. His unhealthy attachment to Darla continues even though now she's a soulless vampire. Eventually his jealousy over Angel and anger at being manipulated by Darla causes him to lose his cool and attack Angel with his pick up truck. Angel smashes his prosthetic hand and tells him that he's sorry Darla never loved him. Darla leaves town and Lindsey is once again alone and now more bitter and disillusioned than ever. All that's left is his determination to beat Lilah for the Vice Presidency.
Lindsey is reaching another moral crossroads where he's losing sight of what he really wants, and where he truly wants to be. It doesn't help that his personal life has been in such turmoil and interfering with his work. This ambivalence is something he wants to be rid of but is not completely sure how to achieve.
Background:
Hailing from one of the southern states (possibly Oklahoma or Texas), Lindsey's childhood was a textbook case of extreme poverty and he swore that he'd rise above his humble origins and make a name for himself. While attending Hastings College of Law at the University of California, he was recruited by Wolfram and Hart and has never looked back, dedicating himself to the pursuit of as much power, money and influence that he can grab on to.

http://buffy.wikia.com/wiki/Lindsey_McDonald Canon point: I would like to take him from early S2.18 Dead End. After Nathan Reed talks to him about his attitude regarding Angel but before he has the procedure to gain his 'evil' hand.
I think this is the perfect time to take him because he's got so much on his mind. He's reeling from Darla's betrayal and abandonment and has little else to strive for but to beat Lilah for the promotion since failure would mean certain termination.
Special Abilities:
Lindsey relies on his wits and power of persuasion first and foremost. That said, he's not too shabby in the combat department. He is a skilled brawler (from his hick days), has training in sword work and firearms. Perhaps his biggest strength in this area is his tenacity and fortitude. The guy just keeps on going, sometimes on willpower alone. He can soak up punishment and keep on swinging.
He's also quite skilled in sorcery, as demonstrated by his taking over of the raising ritual in S1 and his recorporealising of Spike in S5. He also shows a telekinetic ability in S5.
So, in trying to translate Lindsey to the SW verse, I'd like him to have particular aptitude in telekinetic based force powers but also mind powers. Mind tricks, mind corruption etc. This guy knows the power of the mind and the word. He also has an addiction to blue milk, but let's keep that on the downlow.
Sect:
I think Lindsey is best suited for a life of a Sith. His values seem to mesh best with their philosophy (even if sometimes he has moments of good-guy remorse) and he's definitely ambitious enough to want to rise as high as he can and grab as much power as he can. However, since I am still not clear on how this all works, I do like the idea of him starting out undecided and eventually being wooed to the Sith. So I guess the other option is to make him Civilian (force sensitive) and see what happens.
Job:
Hmm, I doubt there are many lawyers in this universe, but perhaps he could find his footing as a politician/diplomat/negotiator?
Samples:
First Person:
[Lindsey warily takes in his surroundings, noting the futuristic decor, then glances down at himself. Oh great, just great. Where the hell did his pants go? He examines the datapad and then sends a holovid ]
If this is some kind of inter-office prank, see this face? Not laughing. And Lilah? If you've somehow managed to pull off spiriting me to a pocket-dimension, bad move. You shoulda killed me when you had the chance, because I'm gonna find a way out of here and still beat you to the finish line. You hear me? This ain't over.
On the other hand, if this another test of my loyalty to the firm or resourcefulness or whatever? Fine. I can deal with that. Bring it on. Show me what you got.
Third Person:
"No, sir. I don't foresee any problems. I assure you that every precaution is being taken to secure the perimeter. The ritual should go without a hitch. I know how important this is to the-"
Lindsey had to clamp down hard on his jaw to prevent himself from trying to talk over Reed. The guy was constantly interrupting and getting on his last nerve. Holland Manners had at least known how to treat the people working under him. But Lindsey knew that being insubordinate right now would probably mean Reed's favor swinging in Lilah's direction so he forced himself to lean back in his chair and take out his frustrations by thumping his fountain pen rhythmically on his prosthetic hand.
"Well, I can forward the details to you if you're concerned about- yes, sir. Absolutely. He's disrupted things before, but- No, I understand. I'll see to it personally. You're right we can never be too prepared for any contingency. Consider it done."
Lindsey reached up to press the button on his bluetooth receiver to end the call. Then he let out a hissing breath and stood up, turning to gaze out of the necro-tempered window at the city he'd been trying to conquer.
Always the same name cropping up. The thorn in his side.
Angel.
It kept on coming back to him, and Lindsey was so goddamned sick and tired of it. What made him so special, anyway? He was in a prophecy? Prophecies were a dime a dozen in this place. Clients paid good money to try to get their destinies changed.
So, the vampire had a soul? Big fricking whoop. He still turned to dust like any other vamp when they were staked. If he messed up this ritual then Lindsey would make sure he took an ash nap, once and for all. Screw the plans for the Apocalypse. Screw the Senior Partners. After what had happened with Darla, he needed payback and he was gonna get it. Somehow.
