[Shinji peeks up from his lounge spot against the bar wall. Despite the smirk on his lips, usually a sarcastic expression, his eyes have genuine excitement in their grey depths.]

[At first he pauses, somewhat surprised to see such an excitement in his eyes. A minute later and he nods, finding it contagious, doing as Shinji says.]

[A bit of wariness creeps into his eyes at that sudden pause, that unexpected mirror of surprise in the remnant's chemical gaze. Have they switched places? It bothers him a little, because everything has a price, and in place of surprise, he no longer expects the worst. Not out of Kadaj. It takes a moment for him to throw off these heavy thoughts and find his happiness again, but then--
--He pulls out two bus-stop signs, almost identical. A big grin spreads across his face.]
All right. Take a look, and you'll see what I got ya'.

[He only has to tell him once. Opening his eyes quickly, Kadaj takes a moment for the light to adjust, his eyes drifting to something very yellow. He stares with a small smile, before suddenly beaming in genuine happiness.
Somehow, one second he's standing there and the next he's holding onto the signm, looking at him as if to say 'thank you'.]
Re: [Commentlog]prodigal_axeSeptember 3 2008, 08:59:25 UTC
...
[Shinji can barely handle that sudden happiness in Kadaj's eyes. He glances away, then back, and sees the remnant much closer now, grasping the sign and asking to use it. In this strange moment, he can't remember how to feel unhappy. A hesitant smile comes up and rises to his eyes.]
It's yours. I got it for you.
Heh. We could develop a fighting technique with 'em. It's easier with a person to practice with.
Re: [Commentlog]adventleadSeptember 4 2008, 01:33:55 UTC
We'll just have to see the outcome.
Don't be stupid and strain it.
[Jumping, he spins it, pivoting on his feet as he lunges with the sign held perfectly horizontal to the ground, bringing it up to try and flip Shinji's defenses out of his grip.]
Re: [Commentlog]prodigal_axeSeptember 4 2008, 02:30:29 UTC
Heh. Yeah, we'll see.
... You're always so worried. People get hurt sometimes. Besides, that doctor friend of yours gave me exercises. For the muscles. It's been helping--
[Shinji flips his sign vertical and puts his weight behind it to absorb the blow. Despite his words, his left hand slips a bit--but with effort, he holds his own.]
Heh. See? Damn you're fast. You got me at a disadvantage there. I'm stronger than I am quick..

[His voice can be heard as he calmly walks over into the area Shinji said he was at.]

Hey Kadaj. So, you want your present, eh?
Your turn to close your eyes.

I'll use it well.
Yeah. A lot. [Glances back down at it with a smile, getting into a fighting stance afterwards.]
Let's start with that technique.

Oh hey. My hand's working now. It's still kinda numb, but the muscles will grip.
[Shinji takes the sign between his hands to demonstrate. He spins it in an arc before passing it to his better hand.]
All right. Lets do this. I need to work on defense with it--so you try and break my guard.
