Congress-Bundestag ScholarshipchoppastyleJuly 25 2004, 11:29:15 UTC
Applying is simple, but to be eligible, you must be a US citizen, national or permanent resident; have a GPA of 3.0 or better on a 4.0 scale; and be between the ages of 15 and 18 by the start of the program.
So I guess I can do it, since I'll be 17 until after I graduate anyway. I'm getting the application right now.

YES! THAT was the loophole that several people in my group exploited in order to go to the Big D :) after they had actually graduated high school.
And the ages have to be 15 & 18 inclusive, as I was 15 for the first month I was over there. And recommendations...WOOHOO! So good! I can't wait!
I am so excited for you. I applied/went because I really enjoyed German, but more because I needed an out. You're going because you have such a passion for the language, the culture, EVERYTHING. And that is so apparent. And it will serve you well. I was just one hell of an actress (a desperate actress) in my interview.
And another thing...prodictatorJuly 25 2004, 21:48:29 UTC
I just checked the website out for myself, and the SE United States is administered by CIEE (Council), which is the exchange org that eventually ended up in charge of my group. (The C-B "account" was sold...twice...during my year over there. And the first company we were with didn't have a German office, so we had a partner organization in Germany...It was murky.)
Anyway, this can only be good, as I am not only a former Scholar, but I'm one of THEIR alumni. And, Council also was the organization Lewis & Clark contracted out to for my Russia program. So I'm two-times an alum.
Hell yeah. Bring on that recommendation form, baby!

oh man i'm hyperventilating now lmao. just kidding. i told mom and she was like "oh maaaann...i don't want to talk about this now." but eventually she was like "okay."
hopefully it all works out though. how do i do this though? do i fill out the application for CIEE and CB? because there's like a $500 application fee for CIEE...hmmmm...
oh awesome. I was going to say that might be the only reason i can't even apply. well, i have to wait until like august or september to apply because i don't think they're accepting applications right now...it's still kind of early.
ugh dr. olson is the only thing...i hope he doesn't give me this long speech about putting off college for a year...but then again i have until at least september to prepare for that, right? :/

Just do the C-B thing for now. C-B is a scholarship. You don't pay jack. CIEE is for profit, those capitalist dogs. :)
