Here I am on Livejournal, generating my own content for the very first time. I made this account a while ago, when I needed to log in to see someone's fanfic. Fanfic is really how I got here; I used to be big into FF.net, but the avalanche of crap started to grate and I heard from various sources that fic on LJ generally is of better quality. So I came here, found a few fandom and fanfic-related communities, picked up a Supernatural userpic and settled in.
That was enough for a while until I realized three things:
1. My personal journal was completely empty. If I tried to interact in any way with a user or a community that monitors such things, I wouldn't be trusted. People would think I was a spammer.
2. Fandom sucks without any personal interaction. A lot of the authors on here are people who amaze me with their talent, and I'd like to be able to interact with them on an equal, mature level instead of writing fawny reviews on FF.n. Also, I want a beta who can actually write. LJ seems like a good place to get one.
3. I really, really want to not be drowned out in the annals of fanfic history by the thousands of illiterate morons who abuse FF.n.
And thus I have arrived. Anyone who's reading this (if, indeed, anyone is) will hopefully give me the benefit of the doubt that I'm not a complete loser. In the next few days I'll start revising and posting up fanfic, and customizing with links and stuff as soon as I figure out how. I'll do some entries every so often and sooner or later this journal will seem a little more mine.
I'm still not very well-versed in the mechanics of how LJ actually works: tags, links, LJ-cuts, html, etc. I know a little bit of code, and hopefully I'll pick up the rest as I go along. Any feedback, comments, questions and especially pointers are always welcome.
Particularly about how to end an entry?
