My English essay was returned today. Apparently (and I wasn't expecting this at all) my sentences are too complex and too lengthy. Quoting my teacher, they are "on the brink of being unwieldly". Which is interesting, since I was always under the impression that my sentences weren't long enough. I really don't know. I don't much care for short, direct sentences, but that's because I am all for passive voice and not so interested in active voice, but apparently the latter is better for essays and the like. I understand the point my teacher was trying to make about it, and I realize now that I really should tone them down a bit, especially since in one one-line sentence I had six commas, but nonetheless. It's my style... I enjoy fiddling with language and seeing what it does. But apparently Josh has had difficulty reading some of the things I have written due to this, and apparently I talk the way I write so... Just a heads up. I need to cut back on lengthand focus more on being direct and to the point which, hey, is a difficulty for me.
But overcome it I shall.
