[ CHARACTER INFORMATION ]

Name: Hakuren Oak
Age: Unspecified, but probably in his late teens (16-18)
Gender: Male
Fandom: 07 Ghost
Timeline: Chapter 38. Just after he visits the hospital with Bishop Castor and before he heads off to serve as the tutor to the Princess.
History: Wikipedia Nnngh, kinda focused on Teito, if you need clarification, I don't mind being contacted about it.

Character Personality: Hakuren's a bit of an odd one. On one hand, he's arrogant, narcissitc and air headed, often times showing off in front of other apprentices or seemingly glossing over rather important details (Hakuren... There's a baby dragon perched on your head...). On the other hand, he has been shown repeatedly as someone who truly does care about the well being of others. This stems from his honest intention of becoming a bishop; a choice he made early in life when his mother - who was possessed by a Kor - was saved by a passing Bishop.

However, as a member of the prestegious Oak family known throughout the districts as a family that only has an interest in the military or the government, Hakuren and his father never see eye-to-eye. Since his father denied getting his mother to the Church to heal her the young Oak has since lost respect for his father. There is still some remnants of respect for his family name though, as he was offended when Teito called him "Cowardly Oaks" (admittedly, this was made in reference to another family member, Shuri Oak, who was introduced earlier in the series). Rather rebelious in regards to his family, the only person in the Oak family that Hakuren thinks fondly of is his mother.

Indeed, he mentions after receiving the summons that he dislikes women in general though there are exceptions.

Hakuren's desire to become a bishop though leads him to being kind to those who need it, the young, the weak and the old. To exterminate Kor is but one way for him to protect those weaker than himself and so he has dedicated himself fully to the role of apprentice Bishop. It's a source of pride for him. Outside of that group though, he tends to act haughty around his peers, boasting and showing off or otherwise playing hero, such as when he was thrown off the ledge of the church while defending Teito... The action was simply brushed off as a "conditioned reflex". (probably from defending other students during Baculus practice or for later use, should a Kor or Wars attack a civilian)

When forced into a partnership, Hakuren is perfectly capable of setting aside his differences and working with said person. He still boasts and doesn't appear to make a marked difference in his attitude, but Hakuren tries his best to accomodate his partner. From what's shown in the manga anyway. After a point, he treats his partner with concern and kindness to the point of mothering them at times.

The apprentice bishop can keep his calm, facing whatever situation it is with a level head. His devotion to the church might be one of the reasons he can face these sorts of trials with courage; with faith in his own skills and in the protection of the Gods, Hakuren will continue to work to become a Bishop. There are moments where he bursts out in anger or frustration, but those normally involve his family (specifically, his father) or a certain stubborn peer. Otherwise, Hakuren seems to display the patience befitting a saint.

Which is suitable, considering his desire to become bishop.

Character Abilities: In the world of 07 Ghost, 'Zaiphon' is the parallel to magic in most other series. It is the essence of life that runs throughout that world, and you can harness the powers yourself if you train/focus hard enough. There are two main types - attack and healing - and their potentcy depends on both the user's will and experience (an extension of the fact that Zaiphon is lifeforce).

Hakuren is an attack-type Zaiphon user, and while he's only seen in battle once or twice, he's been shown using his baculus as both a gun type weapon attached to his hand or as a bludgeoning staff. In terms of his skill with such items, while nowhere near the level of Teito's powers (which can easily destroy a building) it's precise and confident. He doesn't second guess his shots or his attacks. Hakuren also knows some basic hand to hand combat and can pick up on skills relatively quickly. Using the baculus also means that he has to focus his zaiphon for extended periods of time, rather than the more violent weapons used by the military, which relies on sudden outbursts of energy.

Likewise, he doesn't second guess his actions when faced with a dangerous situation. If anything, he will do his very best to get himself and his partner out of that unfavourable spot. Though this tends to land him into more trouble than he originally intended, it might have something to do with his opponents often times being at a much higher level than himself. Sincere as his intentions are, the boy is still an apprentice and a 'normal' one amidst those who are above 'human' themselves.

He's also extremely well-learned. The Oaks may specialize in Military and Government affairs, but Hakuren's about as close as you can get to a properly competent individual as you can get among the family members that live in the series' canon. After all, it takes someone who knows his stuff to answer a question like;

Multiply the numbers of all the books and chapters greater than six sentences and divide by thirteen. Answer with the number.

on the first try and without hesitation. He was also able to face the darkness within himself... As much as he hates his father, he does not wish to become like that man hence his pursuit of the role of bishop.

Character Weaknesses: Hakuren tends to bite off more than he can chew when his partner's in trouble. He... also tends to be an air head whenever he isn't faced with dire consequences or in otherwise dangerous situations (read; he's a ditz in everyday life... a fabulous ditz)

His rebellious actions against the wishes of his father also serves to impede his decisions. While able to work through it, a fair amount of effort or a major realization is needed before he concedes to whatever it is his father sets up. At times, if he's provoked, he will be more than happy to come at the offender in a war of words. Hakuren Oak does not mince his words...

He also has a dislike of women. While it hasn't been shown to hinder his abilities thus far, he's never... actually seen around any other females than either Razette (a Noel Mermaid belonging to Bishop Castor), his mother and, eventually, the princess. That being said, it's very possible to use Hakuren's fondness for his mother to toy with his heart. While his will to remain in the church and knowledge of how a Kor works will make it very hard for such a task to be fulfilled it is possible to cause him to falter this way.

And in battle, that might give his opponents the upper hand.

[ MEISTER SECTION ]

Why your character should be a Meister: Hakuren is adept in using magic and the baculus, which alters it's appearance depending on the type of Zaiphon that is used with it. Capable of thinking quickly and (more-or-less) calmly in dire situations along with Hakuren's accuracy and steadfast personality makes him much better suited to be a Meister.

[ SOUL INFORMATION ]

Soul Description: Eccentric, gentle, protective, arrogant, vacant, devoted

Soul Appearance: Hakuren's soul is a pale yellow in color with his trademark ponytail outline trailing down the left side of his soul. His eyes are normally furrowed in what appears to be a frown or a thoughtful expression... Though it'll often look like he's got his head in the clouds.
