I'm confuzzled about this part:
Abortion is illegal in Northern Ireland except when the mother's life is in danger or there is a serious threat to her health.
I thought since Northern Ireland is a part of the UK that abortion would be legal there too, but it seems to adopt the same stance as the Republic of Ireland has.
