I'm always on the lookout for useful and space-efficient things, and so a few days before my trip to Vancouver I picked up a 1-liter
Source Liquitainer Bottle at MEC. I figured it would be useful to be able to carry the collapsed bag in my carry-on through airport security and fill it as necessary at drinking fountains, and also to take it on any excursions like the Grouse Grind.
Unfortunately the Liquitainer did not perform well - after one trip in my carry-on, either the mouth or the cap had warped enough such that there was significant leakage. I ran it by the MEC in Vancouver, and they were happy to let me exchange it for the 0.5-liter
Platypus Soft Bottle. The Platypus has been great - the mouth/cap area is very sturdy and held up well during my hike, as well as kicking around in my bag all week and during the flight back to Toronto. Apparently Platypus also makes a 1-liter size, which I'd love to have on hand as well, but MEC doesn't carry it.
