I haven't been saying much about my graduate school hunt, in part because it was still up in the air, and in part because it was a little depressing - lots of rejection letters will do that to ya. I ended up accepted into University of Chicago's MA in the Humanities program, and Boston College's Philosophy MA, and waitlisted for Stony Brook with a "we'll let you know by April 15th."
So I went up to University of Chicago's Campus Days event last week, and I loved it there. Oddly enough, the professors didn't make that much of an impression - but I absolutely loved talking to all the interesting, interested, smart and lively students. The campus was beautiful, and... yeah, it would clearly be a tough year, but I came out pretty much sold.
Still, I figured I should at least look at Boston College, both because I'd like to meet Kearney and because... well, just-in-case. But I have to declare whether or not I'm taking the University of Chicago offer by Thursday of next week, so I had to schedule fast. So I spent most of today arranging for transportation and schedules and lodgings.
Then I went to class. Came home. Mom told me to check my e-mail.

You know how the Stony Brook PhD program had me waitlisted?
