Naruto 411

Ow. It's hard to type when you've got a gaping wound - however wrapped up - on one of your fingers...

Um, Sasuke? I think your coat is a little big. It's kinda sliding right off your shoulders. It looks very odd indeed.

And good, it seems that he isn't just buying Madara's story at face value without at least trying to find some sort of additional evidence. Although... "what that bijuu said"? I can think of two ways to take that, actually. Well, three - I suppose "that bijuu" could be referring to Hachibi, and he's just saying he wants to see if Hachibi is really as tough as he says.

But the other options are more interesting. One: Sasuke is referring to Kyuubi's long-ago comment that Sasuke's power is equal to that of Madara. Under the circumstances, Sasuke isn't willing to measure his power against Madara's directly (that would ruin the point of using Akatsuki for his own ends, an attitude that I'm wholly unsurprised to learn that he's taking). But he knows that Madara could, presumably, control even Kyuubi. Kyuubi isn't currently available to Sasuke... but Hachibi is the next best option.

The other option is that perhaps "that bijuu" refers to Madara.

We still don't know how it is that Madara is still alive, but he is - and not only alive, but scampering about fighting and plotting and generally being a quite lively fellow. Given that the best Orochimaru's life-long quest for immortality got him was body-swapping, there can't be that many roads to immortality.

Well, the story has a way to go yet, so I don't expect this particular mystery to be cleared up soon. I like that one of Sasuke's first moves was to return Suigetsu's sword to him. And then we moved back to the old Worf Syndrome - of course the unblockable attack was going to be blocked. That's how things work.

I'd love to see a series where really powerful tricks like that stay really powerful and clever, and what forces characters to learn new things is the need for new strategies and tactics... but, well, that's not really the shonen genre, is it?

And speaking of genre... I find it almost amusing that I see a major character get run through by multiple blades (and yep, this guy is a bee-pun, called that one...), and my response is, "Isn't that particular cliff-hanger getting a little old?"

As I said - amazing, what you learn to be blase about...

chapter, speculation, naruto
