Naruto 408

*sighs* This is getting a little frustrating.

You know, I've been enjoying the Sasuke arc so far, but I think I'm starting to weigh in with others and say, "When, when! Naruto is the main character here, we need to work with him!"

And now he's going to go off and disappear to train more. -_-; In shonen manga, "training" typically means, "Okay, let's tuck these characters aside for a minute while the stage for the next big event is being set." Kishimoto-sensei, are you stalling, perchance? And for crying out loud, the message wasn't that hard. At least, not to me - although I will grant that I have the advantage of having been able to look over Jiraiya's shoulder and watch his flashbacks and thinking. ^^; So maybe I'm not being fair. (But sheesh... "The real one isn't here." It's not that hard!)

But seriously... Naruto is in dire need of some attention in this storyline. -_-;

...and yeah, I'll admit that part of my change in attitude comes from the fact that Kishimoto has apparently decided to depict Sasuke as a villain, at least for the time being. ^^; Plus, it looks as though Hebi - excuse me, Taka - is not quite so cohesive as it originally seemed, and therefore it's less interesting to me.

......or maybe I'm just in a grumpy mood. ^^;

One thing that frustrates me, though, is that once again we have a character with a lot of potential here who will probably end up as a bit-character sacrifice, which is annoying. This whole post-timeskip arc would mean a lot more if, for example, we got to know the jinchuuriki a little better. There are so many places you could go with them! ...and this Hachibi sounds kinda nifty. A Kushmanda theme? Spider?

...all for what will probably end up being a shiny fight scene that's somewhat frustrating because we don't know nor particularly care about one side of the combat. Beyond being torn because you'd hate for Sasuke to lose, but winning doesn't look like a good outcome, either.

Mind you, it would be possible to twist this around. It would be really cool if, say, Sasuke were to arrange for the Hachibi's assistance under cover of 'capturing' him - but I'm not holding my breath. That seems an exceedingly unlikely outcome.

Just a side note - why is Sasuke only using one eye? Particularly since it's his right eye, which was depicted as being the eye that controlled Amaterasu. (Or perhaps he's pulling a Deidara/Kakashi, and keeping his other eye closed to protect his vision?)

chapter, speculation, naruto
