He remembered very little. He was fighting, he knew that much. He came up against someone, but he couldn’t really remember who. It could have been Bellatrix, which would have been ironic. He knew he had to do something important to help Harry, but that would come in time. The boy he knew grew into being a powerful wizard, if he could keep his mother’s temper under control. He remembered hearing Harry’s voice “I am about to die” but…did he really see James and Sirius and Lily? All of them back together again? Was that how it ended or did he just got badly knocked on the head? For a professor….former professor, who was supposed to know the answers, he had none to give himself. He was sprawled out on carpet? He didn’t really remember carpet at Hogwarts, save for the rugs. No, wait, there were rugs in the common rooms. Could he be there? But wasn’t he just in the front hall? He tried to sit up, amazed that he could as he looked around at exactly where he was.

But this is not Hogwarts, he thought to himself as he slowly took in the hotel he was now sitting in. A muggle hotel maybe, but not the school. He sat on the floor, his right elbow sitting on his knee as he rested his head on his hand. It could be some twisted sort of afterlife he was now in, but there was no Nymphadora. There was no Sirius or James that would meet him here. Maybe I’m in Hell, he thought as he closed his eyes against the banality of that statement. As he opened them, he looked around once more for a person…anything, anyone that could tell him where he is instead of where he was.
