So as it is lovely finals week, I have been reflecting on the past year, and seeing what I have accomplished. Basically, I have done everything that was probably stereotypically expected of me, and not much more. Lets see what I have done:
*I have a 4.0 GPA, and even after this semester, I will STILL have a 4.0 GPA (Plus a W, but minor details)
*I joined a Sorority, and am loving every minute of it. I have also morphed into a typical sorority girl-I wear True Religions and Reefs, Tiffanys and Coach. I never leave looking less than fabulous, and would rather skip class than not look at least half-way decent. The only thing I need now is an SUV to fulfill the stereotype.
*I'm very involved in my Sorority's Chapter. I'm Dad's Weekend Co-Chair, Philanthropy Co-Chair, Scholarship and Social Assistants, and in November I plan on being our Out of House Relations Vice President, meaning I will be our representative at Panhellenic and keep our chapter involved in the Greek Community.
*I'm double-majoring, and can do so in 4 years. Easily.
*I'm well on my way to accomplishing my goal of becoming a North Shore Nancy, and have no doubts in my mind that some day soon I'll be living in somewhere like Buffalo Grove or maybe Deer Field, getting my nails done with my girls, driving my Mercedes SUV and catering to my husband. (North Shore refers to Chicago's North Shore suburbs).
*The only thing that probably sets me apart is that I'm interning this summer for 2 weeks in May, and then the month of July in Chicago. I'll be interning for an international corporate attorney, which doesn't interest me anymore. I really want to do contract law, but whatever. Next summer I'm probably going to work for Jeff's mom in Houston, since her firm did Texas vs. Big Tobacco. (Trust me, I KNOW how to pick my boys).
*Despite being in Liberal Lawrence with all the hippies I haven't done anything to change the world. I don't think that I will, either. I'm not really into becoming an activist. I see that it interrupts my social calendar, and being the elite sorority girl, I cannot have that. (Please note the sarcasm). I would like to get more involved, but school and work take up a LOT of time.
*I love Lawrence bars. And I'm not ashamed to admit it. I'm not single, so I don't go out to the bars 4 times a week like the other singles, but I do enjoy a Friday and or Saturday night spent at Quinton's or the Bull or Jet Lag.
*One thing that I have accomplished: I have Sasha Kaun's cell phone number and you don't. Ha Ha Ha.
Basically, for all you college bounded ones, don't get caught up in high school still. The people you meet in college will probably distract you from missing anyone in high school, so don't feel bad if you cut off ties. I haven't spoken to someone I considered my best friend for 4 years in almost a year, and really, it doesn't bother me. I think about her sometimes and how she kind of dropped me, and then I don't care. So you'll get over it, and so will they. Move on, make new friends. Get DRUNK. OFTEN. Really, it helps you get to know people easily at the start of the year, plus you have more fun cuz if you look like an ass, it doesn't matter; everyone else does as well.
