So I had my minibreak in Cali this weekend, and it was fabulous!
Friday: after a long day of flying, rosie and dommie picked me up and then took me to in'n'out because it's apparently one of those amazing places that we don't have on the east coast. And as far as fast food goes, it was pretty good.
Saturday and Sunday were mostly spent volunteering at the Conference (it was basically my excuse to get out there). The girls were working the AMU booth, which turned out to be directly across from the FUS booth. I was working with childcare the whole time, but it was all good. Sunday we got to spend some time in front of the Blessed Sacrament, and that always turns out to be a good time.
Saturday night we went out for Mexican food, and then Sunday we had a quick dinner at Johnny Rocket's before going to see "No Reservations," which is really a darling movie that anyone in need of a good chick flick should go see.
Monday we were done with the conference, so we met my brother at Disneyland and he got us into the California Adventure for free, which turned out to be so much fun!!!! We stopped in at the Napa Rose so we could see where Michael worked, and then at the end of the day we went to downtown Disney. After that the girls went home and Michael took me to his house for dinner with him, Tiffany, Gray, and Maryanne. Maryanne was civil and even sociable, but made it clear that she did not consider me a part of this family (which is a shame, really, since she was apparently the only one to think so). Anyway, we had some great Bison, some fabulous wine (the bottle costs about $130 at Michael's restraunt), and overall a fabulous time. After Maryanne went home Michael introduced me to his chinchilla, Mr. Shnukums, we took some pictures in his toy room (ya, don't ask), and then they drove me back to Rose and Dom's house.
Tuesday Dommie and I slept in a bit (we both got up around 8:30), and then we did a few random things like take a tour of the old Mission, stop at Starbucks, go to the beach to see how people on the westcoast enjoy their shorelines, and then came home in time for me to finish packing everything and hit the road again so I could make my flight.
All in all, minibreak was fabulous. Might have been better if Mathew had called us back and been able to do something, but I guess that's more his loss than ours. Anyway, I learned important things like the presence of differences between Californians and Floridians. I really didn't think there was much of a difference until I realized how much of a Floridian I actually am. Anyway, I've been going on about nothing for quite awhile, so I'll shut up now.
