In my opinion....

I have quite a few.... to save everyone the mundane crappiness of my rants they shall be cut :)
And it was awesome... it wasn't a one sided "documentary" like those of Michael Moore (whom I loath). It was very very well done. It portrayed both the serb side and the albanian side and well.. it was just awesome. It was on the sundance channel and if you get a chance you should watch it. Here is my personal opinion on the matter... I think that they are all crazy. It might have something to do with 500 years of Turkish oppression but whatever. I think the croatians are the least crazy, but then again they've been the least persecuted. Don't get me wrong there has definitely been some serbs killing croatians. But I think it was a pretty even playing field as far as that goes. Serbs killing croats, croats killing serbs. albanians are fucking crazy... the craziest perhaps. They killed serbs by the thousands, then again the serbs did it right back to them. then there are the bosnians. when you combine catholics, orthodox christians and muslims there is bound to be conflict. But at least it seems to be better there. And pride is certainly not helping any of the people over there. If they weren't all so damn proud they probably wouldn't be killing each other left and right. And talk about holding a grudge! holy shit. these people need some serious anger management counseling. I think I have the most sympathy for the serbs as far as "sides" go... but all in all I think everyone over in the Kosovo region. Some of the stories I've heard are heart breaking. Albanians definately take the cake for the craziest tho... hands down. This shit probably never would have happened if Tito was still alive... that kinda brought the fall. Too bad he was communist, at least he united the country (which isn't even a country anymore - not to the dismay of the people from the Balkans mind you, that's how much they all hate(d) each other) I think the truly sad thing is that people are so caught up in Iraq that the general public doesn't even know about the Balkans. People hear genocide and think holocaust, but the ethnic cleansing that went on in Yugoslavia was right up there. Srebrenica is just one of many many examples. Ok enough about that...
Terri Schiavo... yet another topic that pisses me off. I feel bad I really do. I know its hard to lose someone you love. My dad died in '98. But please. People keep saying that her husband "killed" her by taking out her feeding tube. There was a priest on the news today that said that they were mourning not only a death but a killing. Fuck that! I don't know if these people know much about science and anatomy. But if your cerebreum isn't even at all attached to your body then there is no possible way to function. They would show the tapes of her "responding" to music and people talking and what not, but they didn't show that she would "respond" the same way to no stimuli what-so-ever. She wasn't reacting. The movements were more like muscle spasims, things that her muscles would do at random without any signal from the brain. Much like breathing. We doesn't think about breathing, or sweating, it just occurs because the body is amazing and does it on its own (trauma of course can cause the breathing to cease, but that is not relavent at this time). How many hundreds of disputes do you think there have been in the past 50 years over life support and feeding tubes? Probably quite a few. Yet does anyone know of these? Nooo... why? because the people who lost weren't so incredibly deep in denial that they kept pushing and fighting. They left it in God's hands. Without the marvels of modern science Terri Schiavo would have been dead 15 years ago. That is hardly a killing. I'd say its letting nature run its course. Do her parents honestly think that her husband is an evil man who wanted to kill his wife? (well obviously since they are saying it all over national TV - I think it'd be great if he got them for slander)... I'd say he's a man who has come to terms with his wifes condition and realizing there was NO HOPE FOR RECOVERY decided to leave it in God's hands. And honestly she is in a much better place now then she had been in the 15 years. People are critisizing the judical system now saying that its their fault that she died too and how the law is wrong.... Its all bullshit. I have so much more to say about this all but I have shit to do so I'm gonna cut my already really long rant short.
