Argues with internet and codec... *tells Dean not to shoot the computer*

So apparently me and my non-tech smarts have found a problem...
I wanna seen the 'Lost' "Dollhouse" episode... No problem right go download it and thank the person who gave it to me. Go to play it...
Windows Media Player tells me this The XVID codec is required to play this file. To determine if this codec is available to download from the Web, click Web Help.
So I go searching for the codec and follow the links.
Clicked the Web help. Click for Windows on the WMP site. To this other site that has the download. However this other site isn't a well known site, like Microsoft or something. So I don't feel comfortable (in light of the computer meltdown back in June) downloading something from a site like that to a computer that is not really mine.
SO long story short. Either I gotta buy the season before the 25th, which I can't afford. Or I gotta get to the library before someone else grabs the season when it is returned on the 19th. AND that's if people return their crap on TIME!
*sigh*
Anyone know of somewhere that will let me stream the episode?
Also while I'm thinking about it I'm talking about watching 3 shows online this season. Will I be able to find places to Stream "Fringe", "The Vampire Diaries", and "Flash Forward"???

I should finish finding fics to print up (and get them printed) to read on the trip to Virginia for my cousin's wedding in like 10 days. Any recs?

EDIT: Mom made noise in the bedroom and being the crazy person who want's to see "Dollhouse" I went in to see if she was still awake. She was. Told her what kitty_poker1, anyothergirl415, and agilebrit told me about VLC and that it's safe and all...
AND she said ok.
*runs off to DL it and figure out how it works to see if I can still watch the episode tonight!*
