Went to Alex's first ski meet at Trollhaugen. Missed seeing him because I was at the wrong hill. 0 out. Cold. Not bad if you are doing something, but torture if you're just standing around. Next time, the boot warmers are coming with.
I'd never been to a high school ski meet before. Watching the varsity kids come down, there is something absolutely poetic about the way the better ones glide through the gates. Like watching a delicate dance.
They don't wear much more than dancers either, the serious ones in their body suits. The team relays jackets down the hill and as soon as a racer gets through the course they are given their jacket. Still, some were really suffering.
