Daphne's birthday....

Daphne turned 14 today.
We celebrated her day as she saw fit. She requested sausage biscuits and cheesy scrambled eggs for breakfast, and wanted to go to a movie. She had a tough time deciding between Wanted, Kung Fu Panda, or WallE. After her resourceful Daddy had her listen to some podcast reviews of the movies she settled on WallE. We had some extra time before the movie so we headed to the mall and went straight to the T-MOBILE store for Daphne to pick out her birthday present. She chose a rose colored sleeker version of the razor - I think it's probably the third model. No sooner was she handed the phone she had already taken a pic of her brother and me. We put her on our family plan and added unlimited texting to her line.

While there we found a home phone plan for only ten bucks that includes unlimited minutes and free long distance AND it counts toward the free mobile to mobile so when Lee, Daphne or I call home from our cell phones it won't count against our monthly minutes. We had to pay $50 for a router but it will pay for itself in less than two months because our home line costs us about $40/mo, and we get to keep our phone number. Even better - we'll no longer get kicked off line if using the cordless phones anymore.

The movie made everyone cry except for Daphne. It was absolutely excellent and I can not imagine any person that would not enjoy it. I do think that older kids will get more from it than younger kids though.

After the movie Daphne chose lunch at CiCi's and she wanted to head home after to play with her new phone.

She got on the internet and broke out her cell phone manual which kept her happily occupied for a few hours. Daphne's request for dinner was chicken parmesean with a salad and cheesy bread and cheesecake with chocolate chip cookie ice cream for dessert.

We let the kids stay up until 10:58pm (the actual time of Daphne's birth) - to make it official. It was a great day - despite finally having caved to the cell phone demands :P - At least now, she no longer has any excuses to not answer the phone when I call.
