For
gleeverse:I found it interesting that I got assigned this ep of all eps. Two years ago this is the ep that pissed me off so much I decided not to watch anymore. I only started watching again in season two.
Episode Name: Preggers
Director: Brad Falchuck
Air Date: September 23, 2009
Here’s what you missed… Caught up in his lies to his father, Kurt finds that he needs to join the football team. Will gives Tina the solo from West Side Story causing Rachael to try out for the school play of Cabaret. Little does she know that this is a plot of Sue and Sandy's to destroy the Glee club. An ashamed Quinn lies to Finn telling him that he is the father of her child, knowing all the while that it was actually his best friend Puck. Terri continues her deception towards Will of being pregnant and even ups it a notch, manipulating a scared Quinn into giving Terri her not yet born child. Kurt's rendition of Single Ladies and his kick wins the Titans there first football game. Kurt then tells his proud father that he is gay. Burt already knew ad is okay with this fact. After still not being able to convince Will to give her the solo, Rachel quits glee.
Favorite Scene: The best scene of this ep is Kurt admitting to his father that he is gay. For most of this episode you get a feeling that Burt would be anything but okay with Kurt being gay. In fact, at times, he seems hostel towards Kurt. So when he accepts him it is both a surprise and moving at the same time. The scene is very well acted. The fear is plain in Kurt's eyes, yet you see him take a deep breathe and be very brave. I also like that this scene is very realistic. Burt is not jumping up and down in joy, but he admits he knew it and is able to except it on a level. This is the start of the wonderful father/son relationship we see for the rest of the show.
Least Favorite Scene: This is a tough one as in there are a lot of scenes that drive me up the wall, but I'll have to go with Terri deciding to continue her lie about being pregnant and pass Quinn's child of as her own. When I dropped the show first season, this was the event (coupled with Quinn lying to Finn) that made me stop watching so, of course, I hate it. It still makes me angry. It's a cruel deception and I admit, on first viewing, I was offended that women were shown in such a negative light in this ep. Two are trapping men with pregnancies (one fake and the other fathered by another man) and the other, Rachael being repulsively self centered to the point that she can't even allow poor Tina to get even one solo.
Favorite Performance: Single Ladies. I'm not a huge an of it, but in this ep it is the best and it did allow for not one, but three iconic Glee moments. Those being Kurt in his basement dancing with Tina and Brittany, Kurt becoming kicker and the whole football team dancing to it. Of the three, I think I like the first best. It's Kurt at his feisty best.
Least Favorite Performance: Taking Chances. This ep doesn't really have a lot of music in it so this being my least favorite doesn't mean it is bad. I just like Tonight, which is very pretty, and Single Ladies, which is iconic, better. Besides, while Rachel is a Celine Dion fan, I am not. It is well sung though, as Rachael's songs tend to be.
