Buffy Drabble

Feb 16, 2010 19:22

This was meant for Whedonland. Because I totally fail and didn't realize that I entered this a day after it was due, it doesn't count. But I figured I might make some good use to it and post it here. :D It makes it look like I've done SOMETHING productive writing wise, lol.

Anyway, it was a challenge to write a drabble that was pure dialogue. Not the best, but I like it.

Getting back into the swing of things is WAY harder then I imagined it would be... I'm having awful trouble doing so... but at least I'm writing again.

"Giles?"

"Yes, Buffy?"

"Why did you become a Watcher?"

"Well... Because it was expected of me."

"So it was sort of a calling for you too?"

"Yes, I suppose it was. My father and grandmother were Watchers after all."

"Family expectations, don't get me started!"

"They can me rough. Though my burden is not the same as your burden."

"Yeah. My suck is a lot worse than your suck."

"My 'suck' as you call it isn't so bad. Not really."

"Oh come on!! It's boring and dusty!"

"I admit, it is a bit dusty, but then I was always fond of old books anyway."

"Ever wish you were born Spanish or something?"

"What?"

"I mean, Watchers are always British, so if your weren't born British you wouldn't be a Watcher. No Watcher means no dust; of the book or vampire sort.

"Your logic is astounding."

"You'd probably be a... err... to be honest I can see you as anything other then a Librarian."

"Thanks."

"Come on! You know it's true."

"Perhaps. There was a time things were different. A time when I wanted a more free life. I was a bit of a rebel after all."

"Um, yeah. Er... so, what happened?"

"Things changed."

"No, seriously, what happened."

"Honestly?"

"No, lie to me."

"Honestly, I meet you, Buffy."
