And I might as well bookend the day with a post to close things out.
Today I did...
Nothing.
Really, that pretty much spells it out. Took care of the cats, but otherwise spent the day being ineffectual and as unresponsive to external stimuli as possible. I tried watching a movie or two, but that couldn't keep my attention. I played some Final Fantasy VI (I'm too old school for the new games...and I happen to think that FF VI is the best of the games, ever), when
foxfirebitch got home from school we pooled our money together and she went and got pizza for lunch. Watched the bonus DVD that came packaged in the FF XII special edition. Listened to the new Spock's Beard CD, and a little more of a live CD by a group called Mangrove...I think people who like IQ and High Wheel will find it to be to their liking. And right now I am listening to, rather than watching, the new Marcel Coenen DVD A Live Time Journey (NB: Marcel Coenen is the former lead guitarist for Lemur Voice, and currently fronts Sun Caged, both Dutch prog/hard rock/metal bands; Lemur Voice was a great band, signed to Magna Carta, and were as poorly treated as most other bands on that label, sad to say).
Was talking with
progscape tonight about the fact that it seems so many people are feeling serious cases of the blahs recently. Could be the weather, could be the season, could be a lot of things. I know my attention span is less than nil, I know my motivation levels for doing anything productive are even lower than my attention span. I have 0 interest in going anywhere, in doing anything. Yet I don't feel depressed. I'm not down. I'm just not feeling driven right now.
I just looked at the weather forecast for the next few days. Predicted highs for the rest of this week?
59 F tomorrow
64 F Thursday
63 F Friday
What I want in the worst way is a nice cold snap with daytime temps in the 40's, overnights in the low 30's or so. That'll perk me up.
I've stacked my CD choices to take to work with me tomorrow so I can begin writing again.
This weekend is looking to be a busy one too...rent is due (didn't we just pay it last month? sheesh......), we have to go grocery shopping, we have to pick up FrontLine for the cats, we have to get
morathi a dress for her office holiday party (which I can't go to, apparently...which is OK, really), and maybe, just maybe, pick up a few more Christmas presents for people. The new pay cycle that we're dealing with for
morathi's job is a bit of a toughie...twice a month, on the 15th and last day of the month. I mean, at least we know when the checks will be there, but we went from her getting paid every week when she was in training to the traditional cycle now that she is permanent, and it means budgeting things more. It's a learning curve, as everything seems to be always. Not complaining, really...just expressing. Yeah, that's the ticket...
It's just been a disconnected day. Hey, that gives me an idea for the title to this post...and some music to listen to real quick...
EDIT:I finally decided to go and take some photos of the lights in town. After being questioned by a passing town police officer about why I was taking photos of closed businesses (and explaining that I like Christmas lights, which he kinda went "Oh..." and nodded his head before driving off), I made quick work of it, and got a whopping 2 usable photos. I need a new tripod, people. Anyway, here's one or both of them...
Probably the best of the photos I took tonight...I have one with a shorter exposure that looked great but was very dark and lost detail...
Very tilty and balanced on a UPS drop box photo...
Time to knock this day on its head. Tomorrow will be a better one...
