The Pan American Games have begun! Or, the opening ceremony was today, there were games yesterday already. I'm very excited! I love sports events, and having one happen in your city is really amazing. Every time I drive by Maracanã, which has been decorated for the Games for weeks, I get this thrill.
The ceremony was fantastic. So beautiful, full of colors and rhythm. My mom called me during it to tell me the song Adriana Calcanhoto sang was the one she used to sing to put me to sleep. I thought that was cute :)
Tomorrow I'm going to a baseball game, Brazil vs. Nicaragua. The guys will need some support, seeing as baseball is practically non-existent here in terms of popularity. On Sunday it's women's volleyball time, and next week it's men's volleyball. I wish I could go to more games, but work keeps getting in the way. Bah.
Some friends thought I was crazy for going to games. People are so weird. I mean, even if you don't like sports, why the need to criticize those who do? Why is it strange that some people do like sports and want to join in the fun? I don't understand those who say bad things about the games just to look cool.
