And where would I be without a new thing to squee over?

Following multiple recommendations from trusted friends, as well as a vague understanding that Stephen Moffat was somehow involved, I decided to watch Sherlock. This, for those who struggle to keep up with all the Sherlock Holmes adaptations floating around the moment, is the BBC modern-day ( Read more... )

There's ontd_seductions, it's invitation-only but I can get you an invite. It started as a spin-off of ontd_deductions because there was a lot of disagreement on _d about what type of content was allowed and, IDK it seemed like there was a vocal minority of new members who came in and demanded that we change the way we've been doing things and the mods were in a difficult position and kind of took their side. Anyway, _seductions is much more active now, there are about 2-4 posts per week and we talk about all kinds of stuff.

I'm a member of both and the idea is _deductions is supposed to be more about serious Sherlock Holmes discussion, (except there aren't enough people left to have a lot of posts) and _seductions is a lot more fandom/crack but there are a few of us there who are into the books and like to discuss things too. There's a Friday Free-For-All post every week that's mostly off-topic, and off-topic comments are allowed on any post (that's one of the changes they made at _d, no off-topic comments there), and if there's a new interview or photo or something, then someone will make a post about that, but any member can make a post so it's basically whatever you want it to be. I like it, we have some good discussions and even when we disagree about stuff, everyone's respectful. Which was a problem we had with _d and that's why _s is invitation-only, to keep out the trolls.

AFAIK _d is still open-membership. Let me know if you want to join _s and I'll PM the mods.
