Name: Serah Farron

Personality: Serah is- very unintentionally- the catalyst for the events in Final Fantasy XIII, though through no fault of her own- she’s simply someone who was at the wrong place at the wrong time. That, however, was due to her own curiosity- something that Serah, despite being a rather sensible girl- was very much overcome by the day those ruins appeared.
Usually, however, Serah is a very mature girl- the type who always manages to seem wise beyond her years when asked for her advice or for an opinion. On some level, it may be because of how she grew up, with only Lightning to call family, as both their parents died when they were young. That meant both of them grew up a little faster than they should have- despite how hard Lightning tried to make sure Serah wouldn’t have to. Serah always has been- and always will be- grateful to her sister for everything she did for her growing up, but she doesn’t let that feeling dictate how she feels about the things Lightning does. She isn’t afraid to disagree with her sister, no matter how upset it may make her, and always hopes that Lightning won’t take the disagreement personally. However, despite this maturity, it has to be understood that Serah is still young, and still prone to the follies that come with youth.
She’s also a very intelligent person- in the novels, it is stated that Serah received top marks in school, and was slated to head to Eden University. However, she met Snow and, on impulse, decided to stay with him- and it was that same impulsiveness that later caused her to turn into a l’Cie, after deigning to examine the Pulse Vestige despite knowing how dangerous that act might be. It was a stupid thing to do, though it was more a lack of self-control over her impulses and curiosity than a lack of intelligence that led her to do it. She does, however, take responsibility for what happened to it, despite other people blaming themselves for ‘being unable to protect her’- she knew the risks and yet she continued on… and she knows that there’s no one to blame for what happened to her but herself- and perhaps the Pulse fal’Cie (though in reality, it is also Vanille’s fault to begin with).
She’s quite reliant on her sister as well as Snow- both physically and emotionally. While a strong girl, Serah does succumb to her emotions rather easily- such as when she tried to break up with Snow to try and protect him from her after she became a l’Cie. She didn’t want to- and it shows in how easily she allowed him to find her afterward. If she had been earnest about it, she would have confessed that she was scared and needed his support- and instead went a rather roundabout way of getting it, showcasing the rare bit of immaturity that she does still possess. Despite that, she does genuinely want to protect him and Lightning- both from herself and from whatever fate may befall her- though Snow hardly leaves her a choice, and Lightning outright doesn’t believe her.
Still, Serah does try her best to do what’s right and best for everyone, and supports both her sister and Snow (and on one occasion Vanille, very briefly) to the best of her ability. Granted, this support isn’t physical- Serah’s a gentle girl, and not really much of a fighter- but mental and emotional, despite her own insecurities and shortcomings. In the end, she’s a lot stronger than she lets herself think she is, and though unfortunate as she believes her fate was, she has the ability to persevere and come out stronger still.
Abilities: Serah is a Pulse l’Cie- so like the others of FFXIII, she’s capable of magic, to a certain degree, because of the powers granted to her by her l’Cie brand. However, as she wasn’t a l’Cie long enough to really use them before she was crystalized, Serah isn’t entirely aware of the extent of her powers. However, given enough time and possibly tutelage from another l’Cie, she has the possibility of learning vastly powerful attack and healing magics.
Weapon: A bullwhip.

[A pause, and the young woman speaking into the crystal hesitates, as if still not entirely sure that she’s doing the right thing. She steels herself, however, and looks back into it, face set in a mixture of hope and firm resolve.]
My name is Serah Farron- I don’t know if this is another focus or not, or if this is what happens after you fulfill your focus but-
If there’s anyone out there who can hear me- anyone at all…
[Another pause, eyes distant, and she looks away from the crystal, biting her lip. When she speaks again, she seems to think that the crystal is no longer broadcasting, because she appears to be talking quietly to herself.]
Lightning. Snow…
I have to try to get back to them- I have to.
