I've been thinking...

I've been thinking about poverty alot lately. Why is it that we have people who own 4 cars, have 6 houses, and make millions of dollars a year, while across the border there are people living on less that $1 a day living in a house made of ripped up tires, broken pieces of metal, & cardboard boxes?
How does that equal out? How? I don't understand why people feel the need to constantly own so much when in reality things can only make us happy for a little while until those things we buy get old or boring or a new version is released.
I don't know...maybe I'm crazy but I don't think we actually need 18 pairs of flip flops & 3 winter coats. We think we do but we don't.
Did you know that 80% of the entire world's resources are held by 20% of the people in this world?
That means...that 80% of the PEOPLE...have 20% of the RESOURCES.
That's pathetic.
I've just been thinking about that alot. I think sometimes we are so removed from poverty, we don't really know what it's like. We see pictures and we see ads asking for money but we've never actually seen it. We forget that those pictures are REAL. We live in this little America bubble & forget. I do too. I forget alot. I don't want to keep on forgetting.
