This is sort of inspired by the latest discussion on peoplespalace , because it got me thinking about Zedd.

So if she'd said there was something wrong, he'd know she was jealous? Ouch. Bitter thing to come across first thing in the morning. I've only managed to compose some sort of review now. Not that it wasn't a great read, of course; the stuff about their love being the stuff of campfire smoke in particular.
I demand fluffy fic for your next offering :P

And yes, it made me sad. ;_; I think there is danger I am actually becoming a Zedd/Cara shipper. I'm tempted to do a chapter fic about them. >_>

I really have too many fic ideas and not enough time.

Lol, I don't think I ever really do anything that can be termed "fluff", but for you, I will try. Zedd/Cara, or what? <3

This was lovely and so poignant.

I remember that moment in the episode and I, like most of us probably, took it on its surface value just for laughs.

But you took that one small moment, those few seconds, and infused it with so much more.

Zedd's brief moment of hope, Cara's flashes of memories of their shared experiences, and her realization that it just couldn't happen. And, of course, Richard and Kahlan being totally oblivious.

I loved this: "Theirs would be a thing of campfire smoke and badly told jokes, irritated huffs, and unwanted advice. It would be sweat, and pine sap, and a small thing under a large sky, and yet there would be no room for it indoors."

Really beautiful.

Oh, heart-breaking. What a lovely moment - you've done a great job taking a tiny piece of the episode and giving it a new twist.

(I will be watching for this next time I see Princess ;D)

I like the contrast with R/K, and of course Richard having no idea, and the description of there being no room for their love indoors was lovely.

I'm glad you liked that line. I did too. For me, the idea of Zedd/Cara is this sort of wild thing that belongs on their journeys, without there being room for it in the sociopolitical structure of their lives.
