I MEAN. I JUST. FUCKING LOVE IT.
You really captured me right away in the beginning, with Salindra of all people. SALINDRA IS THE MVP OF THIS FIC, DAMMIT. Like when Salindra said she doesn't care for children, idk, everything about her just felt really authentic. I like how she cares for Kahlan, but it's still conditional, and it's revealed to be a situation where she wants to secure her place.
I ALSO THINK YOU NEED TO WRITE A THIRD, BECAUSE SHIT WHAT A WAY TO END THE FIC. Where does this leave the Order of Confessors? Is Dennee going to survive? Who will be the next Mother Confessor? What does this mean for the war between the Midlands and D'Hara? What does this mean for Richard and Darken? What does this mean for Zedd? YOU ABSOLUTELY HAVE TO WRITE ANOTHER ONE.
I like that you didn't wimp out on anything -- you killed Serena, you killed Kahlan, you even killed Nicholas. And with Kahlan dead, the implications for Richard and who he will be are wide open. There are certain things that I think are non-negotiable for Richard, and I think all he'll need to is to take one look at the dead baby in his crib and know Serena did it, as well as the fact that Serena confessed him, and I don't think it would be difficult to persuade him that the Midlands are run by a corrupt group of women in the Confessors. I don't think it would be difficult to persuade him that people with such power should not be allowed to continue terorrizing people. It's just... the implications are HUGE, WHICH IS WHY YOU HAVE TO WRITE A SEQUEL.
I also enjoyed all the lines that are nods to canon, and how true all the characters ring. It's wonderful to see an AU where people are still in character, and I agree with Twig in saying that the only scenario where I can see Kahlan feeling sorry for Darken Rahl is if he is confessed, because we have seen clearly on the show that Kahlan feels differently about the confessed, that they are no longer responsible for their own actions.
This is really fantastic, man, and I know you were worried about people disliking the ending, but I can't see how people would. It's a coherent story full of characters with motivations that make a lot of sense. At no point was I pulled out of the story thinking, "_______ would never do that!" Your commitment to keeping characters firmly in-character is admirable, and the mark of a truly skilled fanfic writer.

Yeeeeessssss join the Salindra love! I feel like I almost can't take credit for Salindra. She just sort of writes herself. I didn't even have plans for her beyond the first scene she's in, but then she just wandered off and informed me she had a storyline.
Looooool I already know what happens to Dennee. Between you and Twig, hazy plans for the third installment have taken shape in my mind, but I'll wait for the next pornbattle since it's like tradition for them to be porn battle fics XD.
I'm glad I didn't wimp out on anything too. I wavered at times, but in the end this was what the story was supposed to be, so it's what I did. And you are exactly right about Richard. I have some ideas about the beginning of the third one. <3
Yeeessss I love nods to canon. That's one of my favorite things to do, is echo canon in little ways. :3 AND I AM SO GLAD YOU THINK EVERYONE IS IN CHARACTER. That is a big thing for me: I always want everyone to be in character. That's the biggest selling point for me in a serious work - with comedy it's easier to get away with a certain amount of stretching, but serious works characterization > all.
