part i.
Character name: Narcissa Malfoy, née Black.
Fandom: Harry Potter
Species: Human/Witch.
Character powers: Narcissa Malfoy is an accomplished witch of the usual order in HP. She has a particular knack for charmwork and illusions. Additionally, she is comfortably familiar with the Dark Arts and a talented Occlumens (with some assistance, initially, practising with Severus). She knows her way around.
part ii.
1.) Is it acceptable for your character to be mind-controlled or persuaded? How susceptible are they to mind control, hypnotism, or suggestion?
No. Occlumency precludes this.
2.) Is it acceptable for your character to have their mind read? Does this include traumatic memories? What is their mind like (disturbing, orderly, joyful, surprisingly empty, etc.)? If the character has psychic walls or preventative measures against psychic interference, please explain.
No- again, occulmency precludes this. It's a magical art that prevents the mind from being examined or interfered with.
3.) Are thoughts mentioned in narration acceptable for a telepath to pick up?
No.
4.) What about emotions, in the case of an empath? What sort of general emotional reading would such a character receive from yours?
Occlumency also defends the emotions, but Narcissa has physical tells for this for the observant, which will be apparent in narration.
5.) Are there any aspects of your character's mind, emotions, or memories you would like to be picked up, mentioned, or used in character? Conversely, is there anything that should not be noticed, or at least never mentioned?
Nothing springs to mind.
part iii.
1.) Physically speaking, what stands out about your character? Imposing size? Physical scarring? Tattoos?
Narcissa is 5'9", blonde, blue-eyed, and routinely wears heels that bring her a few inches closer to her husband's height (but as he's 6'3", not that much). She wears Caron perfumes - Narcisse Blanc (day) and Narcisse Noir (night) because she's as bad as her name suggests in all sorts of interesting ways. She's well-dressed, maintains an old school sort of aesthetic and generally favours a sleek, tailored silhouette.
2.) Is your character immune to any of the following: poisons, chemical agents, telekinetic influence, radiation, or types of illnesses?
No.
3.) Is your character physiologically different from a human in any way? This can include their blood, skin, hair, et cetera being made up of something unusual or simply differing in construction and durability.
While human, her magic is an inherent part of her.
4.) Are you amenable to having your character be harmed in any way? How far are you comfortable with injury to you character going? Does this include being fed on by vampires, willingly or unwillingly?
No character death, and she's not going to consent to vampire feeding, but I'm willing to negotiate for something interesting.
5.) Is it acceptable for other characters with abilities of shapeshifting or disguise to imitate your character? Does this include ability mimicry?
Yes, by arrangement! Presumably whether or not they could mimic her abilities would depend on their own- if they're copying her from basics, they wouldn't have the Occlumency, for example.
part iv.
1.) Can your character's presence or aura be noticed by other characters, and how would it look/feel to them? How would it manifest to a character with no supernatural abilities, if at all?
A character with no supernatural abilities wouldn't notice anything out of the ordinary about her. Other characters sensitive to magic might be aware that she's a witch; some of them might further be aware that she can/does practise ~the dark arts~. (Just imagine the jazz hands, here.)
2.) Can your character be affected by magic spells and curses?
Yes. She can also counteract, undo and retaliate against them.
3.) Can your character be affected by sin and corruption, and be tempted toward expressing their darker urges (of whatever flavor)?
Yes.
4. What sort of sins is the character prone toward, and how might they best be tempted, if you are interested in such an event?
Pride, wrath and lust are the top three - hard to say whether it'd be pride or wrath that comes first in that list. In the right circumstances, with the right influences feeding it, a violent rage wouldn't be out of the question.
5.) Are you amenable to the character receiving prophetic visions, including as part of a plot?
Yes.
part v.
1. Is threadjacking allowed? Under what circumstances?
On network posts, absolutely, as long as it isn't three hundred comments I can't respond to. In logs, give me a yell if you want to jump into something and we might be able to do it, or I might have other plans for that.
2. Is it acceptable for canonmates that are updated further than yours to inform your character of events yours has not yet experienced?
But of course.
3. Are there triggering or upsetting topics you would like other characters to avoid mentioning to yours for the sake of continued comfort (racist words, homophobia, self-injury, etc.)?
As long as you're not OOCly endorsing what's coming out of your character's mouth or their ideas, then generally we're fine; I'll let you know if I'm uncomfortable or if I'd prefer not to continue in a particular direction. ICly, Narcissa will react accordingly to whatever does or does not bother her. She's a two-faced bitch, additionally, so please keep in mind that if the narrative doesn't match what she's saying, that's characterisation, and not a passive aggressive attempt at running your character down. She's really like that. She doesn't want to alienate anyone yet, but she's not a nice person and her thoughts will frequently not line up with her actions. This is one reason Occlumency is such a useful skill. It is damned difficult to tell when she's lying.
4. Are there any additions you would like us to make to this survey?
I like it! I'm sorry I keep taking forever to fill it out >_>
