bkk 2009

hi peeps,
i'm back from thailand. i would count my experience wholesome which means i've seen the good and the bad. this was my first trip to thailand and it won't be the last :). the weather in winter is hot and dry unlike sg's, hot and humid. despite cab fares being a third of sg's, you may actually be paying half instead of saving 2-thirds the costs. this can be due to claims that the driver has no change so you have to pay a full 100baht instead of 77baht or going onto the highways despite having not much of a jam. i had my first thai massage at mbk but went for the famous wai po massage near the grand palace. thanks to my thai friends for bringing me around and making mom and i feel safe in bkk. as for the mission trip, company was great. the dire need for the gospel to be received by many was greatly emphasized in this trip. i have not been a good servant for my Master :/ we travelled quite a bit and flew back to bkk from ubon. the airasia domestic flight was more comfy than the budget tiger airways. i enjoyed the company of paul, this 14 year old kid who made me feel so old. he is somewhat a anime fanatic too and so we had some common ground. thai village food was great, i still wonder how they do their tom yam soup from scratch.

anyhoos, christmas is approaching so i would like to wish everyone a merry christmas.

some updates for shopaholics:
a&f opens in nihon!!!! it would be so accessible to me if i go and stay there
bkk has a brand under the jaspal group called CC-00, which is somewhat like a&f
there are so many thai brands that are of international standards like workshop, jaspal, CPS and more.
i think i should stop buying stuff from the more commercialized stores and just go into the thai market which of course is smaller. prices are like zara though. reminder to all: thailand is not cheap, they just provide better variety.

some personal updates:
broke but happy
back in sg for another 5 months
planning to take on 2 language modules concurrently
photos from the trip are on facebook, log in and see if you wish.
