Last night I managed to make quite the ass out of myself while standing on subway platform waiting for the train. I had grabbed the newest issue of the Village Voice and was slowly leafing through it as I waited. Nothing out of the ordinary there until I turned the page and screamed out 'HOLY SHIT!" The reason? You see, this is is Klaus Jacob and I have known him for as long as I have been alive. He's the husband of one of my mother's best friends. He and his wife are part of the group of adopted aunts and uncles that filled my childhood. I've heard many times about all he's done and just how respected he is in his field, but it's always been through the filter of family pride. It's not until you see it in printed black and white you realize just how impressive he is. I hope the people around me on the platform can appreciate that and not just assume I'm a belligerent psycho.
