Author's note: Decided to start posting my fics on LJ-so I hope I did this all right. Reviews are my drug of choice!
They had track marks, both of them.
They had memories of being wasted and lost, broken and abandoned. They had both been high and low to the extent Michael knew nothing of.
They wore their sins on their arms. He wore his intelligence on his back. They made mistakes and had paid for them only to make them again, yet he cleaned up their mistakes and took on the price.
They were struggling every day of their lives with an addiction while he struggled with guilt.
And when his Sara wept bitterly at night from the pains of her withdrawals it was his brother who healed her. It was his brother who understood, it was his brother who took her to NA meetings and sat next to her, clutching her hand in support.
Later knew he should’ve been surprised. He should have realized that with his imprisonment she would need someone. He just never realized that their bond would grow so deep. He never realized how deep they could love each other.
So when LJ told him of they guilt they carried for their crime toward him he knew exactly want to do. Michael had spent his entire life loving his family more then himself, and Sara was no different. He loved her like he had never loved another women. She deserved the best he could offer. And right now that was his brother.
So when Michael was in the yard hours later and a fought broke out he didn’t bother to defend himself.
