Day 1: Angie’s Warped Tour

So every year, my sister and I have week long birthday celebrations (we plan each others) that cumulate in the birthday itself and today is day 1 of mine! ^_^

It is so dubbed "Angie's Warped Tour" (alternately, Jengie's Warped Tour) because Tina's b-day celebration is called Tinapalooza and we decided Vans Warped Tour fit me better than Lillith Fair or one of the other ones (Angiestock? I think not). Also, my middle name is Angela, and all my family calls me Angie, hence "Angie's" and not "Jenni's" or "Jen's".

So for day 1 of the celebratory craziness, I woke up to find a balloon in my bathroom sink. Upon the balloon was taped a safety pin and the instructions, "Please, pop me." I found inside the suicidal balloon's remnants a poem to kick off the celebration (and a statement that the real surprise would be waiting when I got home from work) along with the definition of the word "ab ovo", meaning "from the beginning". (I love rare and little used words. ^^)

When I got home, there was another poem on the dry erase board offering me a cigarette and suggesting I get some coffee to go with the smoke. In the fridge, taped to the coffee, was another word definition "jamoke", meaning coffee (think jamocha), and another poem suggesting I relax, have coffee, and smoke.

Now, for those of you that don't know me well, the above is hilarious because I am sooooo against smoking and I don't drink coffee because the caffeine makes me practically manic for a brief period and then I fall asleep ("Did [s]he just go crazy and fall asleep?"). So I of course knew that the all the references to coffee and cigarettes had to do with a movie I love Coffee and Cigarettes!

I start searching around for the movie, trying to figure out where Tina would think to put it. In keeping with the theme, I checked the mugs, the spoons, the milk, and the coffee pot, and when that search yielded nothing, I checked the dvd player, the dvd case, her bathroom, my bathroom, my bedroom, the kitchen table, the microwave, the couch, etc. Nothing was found :(

Luckily at this point, Tina called b/c she hadn't heard from me and I soon realized I hadn't checked the coffee filters. D'oh. There I found my movie and it was just as fun as I remember it. ^___^

Yay for day 1 of the birthday celebration!

Thank you, Tina!

birthday, tina
