Chicago on Motrin
Ugh.
So I did actually go to a New Year's party for a few hours. I arrived in tears, because KK, the kid I was tutoring, had what essentially amounted to an hour-long temper tantrum. This was as violent as I had ever seen him; he nearly destroyed my new glasses, tried to pull out several handfuls of hair, bit me several times, and tried constantly to throw himself on top of me to pin me down and beat me harder. Of course, when they tantrum, we're supposed to continue work as if nothing has happened, so that they will not be gratified by the attention. This infuritated KK.
The party itself was awesome, awesome, awesome. Correll, being Correll, had a whole host of amazingly awful scifi movies, and I got to see several dear friends that I hadn't seen in years. It was a blast.
So I went home, got to bed around 1:30, and woke up around 3 feeling AWFUL. Astoundingly sore throat, congestion...my mom made me some tea, and I felt better, so I went to bed again assuming it was just a cold. I went to work at 9:30, and about halfway through the session, I started feeling decidedly feverish. I shivered the whole way home, even with the heat up full blast and all the windows closed. Sure enough, I had a 100 degree fever, and my parents convinced me to scrap working at Ari's house. They were sweet about it, though.
I spent the rest of the day napping, shuffling around the house, and wondering how in the hell I was going to get my bags to Chicago. Answer: Verrrry painfully.
The flight was uneventful, and my baggage not that heavy, but even so, I worked up a shirt-soaking sweat carrying around the bags (I still have a relatively high fever), and the bus ride back to campus, as per usual, was horrendous.
Currently one-half unpacked, slightly woozy, and drinking a Starbucks espresso and cream in a can to muster up the energy necessary for the fight for textbooks.
