It's been too long
I haven't written in a long time. I moved into my dorm 2 weeks ago. So far I love it. Reasons why:
1. It's a suite, not just one room
2. My roommate is my best friend
3. We have AC!!
4. There's cable!
5. We have our own kitchen
6. No more taking the city bus to go shopping
7. No more walking all the way down the hall to go to the bathroom
But it does suck because I have to take the bus to class instead of walking most of the time like last year. Speaking of classes, this is what I'm taking this semester:
1. PLIR 340- US Foreign Policy
2. ASTR130- Astronomical Observation
3. ITAL101- Elementary Italian
4. GERM202- Intermediate German
5. SPAN330- Literary Analysis of Spanish Literature
So that's my schedule. I love the Foreign Policy class because it's the same professor that I had last semester for Intro to Int'l Relations and he's amazing. And I'm excited about astronomy observation. The last 2 semesters I've taken astronomy classes but this semester I actually get to look at the sky. haha (My astronomy lab is 8-11pm.)
And yea, taking three foreign languages hopefully won't kill me. I wanted to take French instead of Italian, but after going to Italian class, I realized I really like it. So I'm going to keep it. And I took Spanish Lit in high school, so we're reading the same stories I've already read :]
This year I really want to get involved more with the clubs/activities here. I'm going to join College Republicans ( I tried to last year but only ended up going to one meeting) and Mahogany Dance. It's a hiphop dance group that performs at different UVA events and anyone can join. So I'm going to the first practice tomorrow. I'm pretty excited. My mom isn't too happy about me joining a hiphop dance team but I don't care :]
so today I went shopping. My poor account. After spending $500+ on textbooks, I bought 4 tanktops & flip flops at Wet Seal (totaling ~$10) and $20 jeans at Tjmaxx. I guess it's not horrible for what I got, but I need to save my money. haha Oh, and when my mom was trying to pay my tution, she found out that I got a UVA scholarship, a government grant and a govt loan. I didn't even apply to them but the UVA scholarship was for having good grades last year. so I was pretty happy about that. My cumulative gpa last year only came out to be a 3.33 but I guess that isn't horrible for first year, at a pretty difficult school. I'm going to try to bring it up this semester. (god, i'm so neurotic about my grades..)
