Drama Mama

People yelling, crying, gossiping, whispering, pointing fingers, and the like.  You would think we're in high school.  But I guess this is a normal day at the office.  I'm still getting used to it.  Though watching The Office and Dead Like Me have helped me prepare for this, nothing is like the real thing.  Oh boy.  I'm (sarcastically) having fun.

This kind of stuff seems to be the norm anymore.  Sure, you expect this kind of behavior in high school.  Kids don't know any better, especially teenagers.  But then it leaks into college.  All the people who grew up being the drama queen in high school have moved up in education, yet they didn't mature when it came to social behavior.  I suppose you could blame television for this.  MTV has done a swell job of promoting this kind of behavior as "cool", what with The Real World and their several, several shows about spoiled rich chicks in their rich bitch dresses.  But really, it's people's fault.

Wasn't there a time when people were rational?  I guess that was just ancient Greece, and even then people practiced in some questionable "rituals" (i.e. boy lovin').  You know, I was really hoping that this "drama" thing was a trend.  I hope it still is.  Because it's getting to be a pain in the ass to deal with.

A friend of mine, Pat, had a good approach to it, I think.  It was pretty much an idea of not caring about what people say about you.  Though I'm sure Pat would have used mor colorful language to communicate that idea.  It's a great concept, I do believe.  You wouldn't think it, though, but it's actually hard to put into effect.  It's hard not to care.  But I think it's the best way to get past melodramatic people and people who wish to do harm through gossip.

I guess I just had a lot of this on my mind.  I just can't seem to get away from it, no matter where I go.  Maybe I need to become a hermit.  Like a turtle hermit who lives on a tiny island.  No, that wouldn't work.  Even then, you get some kids wanting to learn your special moves, and then the world is in danger, and you get dragged into even more crap.  What is a person to do when living with a sea turtle on a Far Side-esque island isn't an option?

Thanking you for joining me today as I blew some steam and got to use a new livejournal userpic.  This has been Prinny Overlord.  Please join us again sometime, won't you?
