So I got up this morning, made myself some coffee, and rushed to catch the bus to class. After sitting in class for maybe five minutes, my professor dismissed me and everyone in my recitation section. He decided to turn lecture into one big recitation and, because our recitation is late in the day and we do our homework between lecture and recitation, no one in my section had done our homework yet. So, he dismissed us. I got up and went all the way to class for no reason. Oh well, now I have time to update LJ.
Thanksgiving break was just too damn short. For most other people I know, it was a nice relaxing break from classes. For me however, it was for the most part a rather extreme errand-running trip. Thanksgiving Day itself was nice, though, filled with the usual turkey and wine and hanging out with my brother, and this year the added bonus of my parents interrogating me on what I'm going to do with a BFA after college.
The highlight of the break was most definitely Julianne's debutante ball. I arrived in Tampa Wednesday afternoon and before eating lunch or even going home, we stopped and picked up my tuxedo for that evening. The ball itself was something else; everyone was dressed very smartly and Julianne looked beautiful, but in the middle of the debutante presentation ceremony I thought to myself, "What the fuck am I doing here?" It was really cool, (and I'm sure you know how much I love pomp and ceremony), but as they announced people's escorts, I stood out as the only one who was not a native Southerner. The after party was a bit strange, as well. It was basically my high school prom all over again; all the socially-inbred douche-bag popular kids from Plant were there, all the while pretending I was not. But whatever, I ignored them just as much as they ignored me (although I'm sure most of them were shocked by my mere presence). After the dance, Julianne's little posse and I went out to IHOP for pancakes at 3 AM. A fun, albeit surreal, evening.
Yesterday I shot my final project for Studio. Everything went alright for the most part. I had to cut out a couple of extraneous shots because of time constraints, but I got at least two takes of all the crucial scenes. Tonight I start editing it. Hopefully everything will cut together nicely.
I still don't know what I'm doing for my birthday on Friday! Any suggestions, anyone?
