Well, I'm back in Italy, relaxing after a wonderful European spring break. So much happened during the week I was away, so here are simply the highlights:
Paris:
-Even though I had just seen her in Venice, it was so nice seeing Amanda again. She was a great hostess, and has a gorgeous Parisian apartment.
-Doing touristy things with Irma, such as the Eiffel Tower (did not go up it, way too cold and rainy to make it worthwhile), the Champs Élysées, Place de la Concorde, and the Louvre among others.
-Walking through the Latin Quarter with Irma and Amanda.
-Accidentally running in to Juliet and Finnegan (who were supposed to be in New York City still) at Notre-Dame, and then that evening going to a French singing hall in Montmartre where we all got drunk off of homemade cherry liqueur.
-Seeing the lights of Paris spread out before us from the Sacré Cœur at the top of Montmartre.
-French food, especially the chocolate and bread.
-Having dinners that sometimes consisted of solely wine, cheese, bread, and possibly chocolate mousse.
-Going to Chez Sylvain, the bar on Amanda's street where disco never died, and watching Sylvain himself dance around with a tambourine.
-Sitting with Amanda on her balcony while watching the Parisian sunset and sipping on a nice little rosé.
London:
-Seeing Sarah down the road after a strenuous time attempting to get from Waterloo Station to Clerkenwell by bus. Another wonderful hostess.
-Being greeted by Brazilian flags on the Mall.
-Seeing a good amount of the art I've studied in art history at the National Gallery.
-Walking through Leicester Square in the rain and getting curry afterwards.
-Eating a traditional English breakfast.
-Seeing all the touristy things I wanted to see, such as Buckingham Palace, Westminster, Kensington, Harrod's, Trafalgar Square, the British Museum, etc.
-Meeting Sarah and Aaron for tea.
-Going clubbing with Aaron to a place frequented by Kate Moss, Yoko Ono, and none other than Björk herself.
-Going to Sainsbury's with Sarah.
-Standing on London Bridge and being surrounded by the entire London skyline.
-Postman's Park.
