Principal's office -- Door is open for parents

Oct 30, 2005 06:49

Sarah has a large cup of coffee, which may or may not be spiked with something alcoholic. She's open for any and all parents who wish to speak with her, but she's not in the best of moods -- like always -- so enter at your peril.

(OOC: Just a warning ... I work nights and have to go to sleep now, but I should be up again by about 2 pm EST.)

Keith and Veronica walk down the hallway and Keith spots the open door. "Should we stop in and see your principal?" he asks.

Veronica sighs.

"If you insist, Dad," she says.

"I do, Veronica," he says, peering in the room and knocking on the door frame. "Principal?"

Sarah looks up from the war movie she's been watching and turns down the volume. She glances back and forth from Veronica to her father and says, "Mr. Mars?"

Keith walks forward and offers a hand to Sarah. "That's right, Keith Mars. I'm Veronica's father. It's nice to meet you."

Veronica smiles.

"Principal Connor, good to see you," she says.

Sarah resists a smile but gives Veronica the most polite nod she can manage. "Veronica," she says in greeting. She glances out the door just in time to see Marty carting off his chicken. "Still scaring the boys, are we?"

Veronica isn't sure how to respond.

She finally decides to go with the truth. "He deserves to be scared," she tells the principal. "He told everyone at the bake sale yesterday that my snickerdoodles were made from people."

"Yeah, that sounds like something worth scaring him over." Sarah shrugs and says, "Someone probably made some crack about Girl Scout cookies being made from real Girl Scouts and the moron misunderstood."

Sarah shakes Keith's hand, but doesn't get up. "Same here," she says. "You've got one of the few non-troublesome little brats in this school."

"Well you've already answered my most important question. That's what I like to hear about my girl," Keith says. "Veronica really seems to like it here, so I just wanted to thank you for all the hard work of you and your staff."

"You're more than welcome, Mr. Mars. Considering the way some of these bastards behave, Veronica's practically a little angel." Sarah takes a drink from her cup of coffee and adds, "Anybody else, and I'd say she was almost flying under the radar, as it were."

Surprised by her choice of words, Keith begins to wonder exactly what's in the cup. Then, thinking he didn't envy her job one bit, he decides not to bring it up. "Well, I appreciate your time, Principal, and uh, if you ever do have any problems with Veronica, don't hesitate to call me." Shooting Veronica a Look, he gets ready to leave.

Marty is taking Camilla for a walk when he sees Veronica and her Dad in front of the principal's office.

Marty grabs Camilla who squawks loudly and makes a break for it.

Veronica hears the squawk and turns in time to see Marty running away.

"You can't hide from me forever, Blank!" she yells after him.
