Quake
I'm playing through the first Quake game right now and it's amazing. I'm on the third episode and really enjoying it. I love the level design and and the Cthulhu inspired enemies. The game has a really awesome horror atmosphere that is missing from the games that came after it.
I play the game in the low resolution 800x600 full screen mode. For some reason I think the visuals look the best that way. With the GL crap and the high resolution the graphics look really boring and lose some of their character.
