It's an annual charity event. Businesses in Manhattan have the chance to submit a male and a female contestant in the Karaoke competition to compete. The pair will represent the business and if they win, the business draws on the publicity of the competition. The pair themselves win cash prizes - $25,000 each - and all other profits go to charity.

The reason I thought you might be an interested participant is because the charity is the MS Society this year. I thought you and Tab could represent Luke's bar. Plus, it would be some well-timed exposure for Tab as a singer with her album just out.

A bit like that, only it's limited to businesses submitting contestants because it's a charity event. Big. Say, 50 contestants, 25 businesses, large audience. You and Tab will sing two songs together and one each solo.

I explained it to him. He likes the concept but made it clear he didn't want you doing anything you weren't comfortable with or didn't want to. There's no pressure here, mate. I promise. I just thought it sounded like a cool idea.
