"Don't you know how to whisper?" Riley complained from where his face was squished into the polished surface of the bar. It was so nice and cool. He was never moving again.

Tab's lips curled into a small smirk before she went back to fishing around for her ring. The one ring she wore and she'd gone and lost somewhere on the floor. She stopped her search to pop up and greet Lachlan with a big smile before she patted Riley's head.

"My Big Bro can't hold his alcohol like he used to. I think we need to fatten him up."

"No, he didn't hold his alcohol all over my office floor," Luke added wryly, swirling the ice around in his glass of water. "Thank god I have a loyal cleaner. I told you, Riley, a large, greasy breakfast wouldn't set you straight, mate."

Lachlan leaned on the bar next to Riley and ruffled his hair gently. "Dinnae worry, buddy. It's nay a hangover unless you puke somewhere questionable. You didnae try pole dancing with a lamp post again, did you?"

"Ooh, totally!" Tab quickly agreed. "Hell, you can probably play guitar like a thousand times better than me. You're welcome to take over and I'll just belt out the songs, or you can belt out a couple or both. Whatever, I'm easy. It's just so much fun to play with you and for you."

She glanced at Luke as she straightened up and started to play with his dark locks, the hair twirling easily around her fingers. "You're welcome any time, even if you don't want a regular thing."

Luke nodded in agreement. "But I'd really like you as a regular thing," he had to add. "I won't push you. I just need you to know that you were a hit." He pulled a coaster from his pocket and handed it to Lachlan. A messy scrawl of 'Bring back the Evil Scotsman!' was written there, a patron handing it to him before leaving the night before. It hadn't been the only such feedback.

Lachlan took the coaster with a small laugh and set it down in front of him. "It's not your pub, and it's not the music." He pointed over behind him with his thumb. "It's crowds. Nay to slam a downer on the conversation, but I keep expecting someone in a crowd to pull a gun on my wife. But I'm getting better. I just... dinnae know if I have the confidence to bring her into a regular crowd setting. Can I think about it?"

Riley wanted to assure Lachlan that wouldn't happen, but who could really know? It would be like telling Lachlan ten months ago that he'd never shot. He wasn't one to try and judge on a phobia. He knew how real and how very fearful they were. He also knew Lachlan had dreams about Tara getting shot even at their wedding in the days leading to it, and only family members and friends were going to be there. It hadn't allayed the Scotsman's fears.

"Think about it," he urged. "Chase made a video recording of your performance last night on his digital camera. You should watch it. But you're brilliant. I know as well as anyone that you haven't lost your knack for it all."
