Tara, Pat & AidendoctortaraDecember 13 2008, 06:58:10 UTC
"I don't know," Tara said honestly. "He seems to have logged in to some burst of determination for this competition on Sunday. He knows just about everyone here, though, so it's not the same. Still, he doesn't look nervous. Do you think he looks nervous? Maybe he just needs another outlet for his sexual frustration?"

Pat picked his drink up, fumbled with it a little and then held it in both hands. There was only a small purse of his lips that indicated his annoyance but he glanced at Aiden with a smile to reassure him. Aiden had been watching him like a hawk all day and Pat found that it didn't piss him off... it was actually comforting because Aiden seemed to have a knack to pull it off without being claustrophobic

Aiden's eyebrows shot up. "Seriously? A year since you two got engaged? Congratulations!" He leaned in and kissed her cheek, giving her a hug. "You should request something," he urged.
But it was pointless because Lachlan flicked a point at his keyboardist and stepped up to the microphone. With a quick wink at Pat, Lachlan was dedicating the song to his BFF and the room dimmed down long, the lighting being taken over by an array of colourful disco lights as Lachlan started to mischievously sing 'I Will Survive', complete with a perfect falsetto on the opening lines and dramatic hand gestures. When the fast beat of the song kicked in, Lachlan grabbed the mircophone and started to handle it with ease, emphasising the whole performance with disco moves and hip thrusts. There was onyl one thing Aiden could do. He burst out laughing.

Tara stood up and stuck her fingers in her mouth with a loud whistle. It was all very reminiscent of Pat's party last year. Lachlan had sung one of Pat's favourites even then, and although he incessantly pulled the piss out of Pat for his love of all things disco, he performed it himself with style. She started dancing, enjoying the music even if she was giggling to the point she had tears in her eyes.

Pat gave Aiden a small nudge in the arm. "Dance with her, darling," he said, smiling. "Someone's got to dance for me. Gives me an excuse to perve on your arse, too." He didn't miss Aiden's hesitation. "It's okay, I promise. This is all fantastic. I'll dance next time."
Re: Tara, Pat & AidenmrpublicityDecember 13 2008, 07:22:26 UTC
Aiden gave Pat a deep kiss and smiled as it broke away. "You keep that slot in your dance card for me, okay? I'll only share if I get you first." They shared a smile and Aiden stood up to take Tara into his arms. They took the edge of the dancefloor right near Pat's table and Aiden had to laugh when Tara, despite her heavily pregnant belly, had the disco moves down. "You're going to show me up, Mrs Campbell," he warned, laughing.

Tara gave his cheek a small pinch. "Oh, you can handle it. You're practically married to the Disco Queen. It'll rub off sooner or later," she giggled. When he spun her, she caught a glanced at Pat. "Is he okay with this? He's not just putting on a brave face, is he? I was so worried tonight would be too much for him."
Re: Tara, Pat & AidenmrpublicityDecember 13 2008, 07:28:50 UTC
Aiden grinned and blew a kiss at Pat over Tara's shoulder and Pat smirked, doing naughty things with his tongue to his straw but got cut off when his brothers swooped on him and handed him a brightly wrapped gift. "I don't think so," Aiden confirmed. "Maybe deep down, but Pat thrives off other people's happiness and enjoyment. First hint he's not enjoying himself or he's waning, I'll take him home," he promised her.
Re: Tara, Pat & AidendoctortaraDecember 13 2008, 07:34:40 UTC
Tara followed Aiden's gaze just as Pat pulled out a pair of furry pink handcuffs from the package, the other Preston brothers sniggering deviously at their youngest brother. Pat merely raised an eyebrow at them and proceeded to handcuff their wrists together and toss the keys into the crowd on the dancefloor.
She laughed and shook her head. "You're right, he's fine." She turned her attentions back to Aiden, not missing how well he moved. No wonder Pat was smitten. "You're the best thing that has happened to him in a very long time, you know. That smile when you're about to kiss him... it's not something I've ever seen before, not even with his wanker of an ex."

After a couple of moments watching Cameron and his older brother try desperately to get out of their predicament, Aiden's blue eyes fell back to his now giggling boyfriend. There was nothing innocent in it, though. He knew when Pat's nose scrunched up like that, he was being anything but sweet. "I just get worried I'm going to hurt him. Don't mean to flog a dead horse, but I do. I'm hoping that will go away now he's agreed to come stay with me. We should have more of a chance to see how each other works."
Up on the stage, Lachlan ended the song and started right into playing the first chords of 'Eagle Rock' on the guitar. He was awed yet again. "I can't believe that other half of yours doesn't want to do this professionally."
Re: Tara, Pat & AidendoctortaraDecember 13 2008, 07:50:05 UTC
Tara kissed Aiden's cheek. "We're always going to hurt those we love," she told him. "And I'm speaking from experience. It's a given. But I can tell you now, you're doing everything right with Pat. You know why? Because you're being yourself and you're letting him be himself. Everything else comes with experience of, like you said, learning how each other works. Lachie and I had more than our fair share of hurdles when we started out, but now I couldn't live without him." She punctuated by welling up again and she paused in the dancing to fish some tissues out of her pocket. "I'm sorry. I really thought I was going to be okay. I just can't believe it's been a year."
She gave a small tearful laugh, quickly wiping away the tears with her tissues and watching Lachlan on the stag. "I don't either. But he follows his heart and I trust his heart. But if he ever changes his mind, I promise you'll be his publicist."

Aiden pulled her into a warm hug. "Hey, it's okay. No one is going to blame you having a cry over this. It's going to be very raw for a few days, but look." He pointed up to the stage. "He's alive and happy, signing that heart of his out. Do you want to sit down, love? I'll get you a drink."
He patted his pocket and came up with some fresh Kleenex in a little pocket pack. "I'm learning to be prepared, too," he said, smiling.

Tara accepted the tissues, laughing. "I'm going to have to carry you around in my pocket to be super prepared. I'm okay, I swear. It just catches me by surprise sometimes when I look at him or let myself think about. A year ago, we were so happy, then it all got taken away. To see him happy like this, it's like the Lachie back then and it just makes me happy."
