Daytona Beach, Florida, where I was raised from ages 3 to 11 and still have family, is one of the places where American auto racing got really popular. It was sort of an incubator for today's NASCAR. The Daytona 500 starts the season (which lasts for nine months, excluding winter) and is called "America's Race." Winning Daytona is particularly prestigious, and one of the reasons I'm angry at my driver Tony Stewart is because he hasn't won yet, but could have quite easily last Sunday.
