Yet another sketch post! ...Are you wondering if I ever stop? XD Man, I've been going in this fandom strongly for a full year now and I don't feel the interest/love waning at all. That's almost scary.
I don't think these merit any warnings whatsover. Except a warning for Fakir/Ahiru-ness, I guess, and implied Mytho/Rue through the process of children. XD; ...Yeah, you'll understand after you see, I think. ^^;
Cross-posted to my personal LJ.
Some of you may very well recognize this piece from back at Christmas. I finally figured I'd never get around to CGing it, particularly with the wrist problem now, but instead, I decided to shade the whole darn thing. So there we go. And it's way out of season now. ^^;;;
They're blushing because it's cold outside, I imagine (though in Fakir's case, I think he's a little embarrassed). I know the hands need work. I couldn't seem to get Rue's and Ahiru's to cooperate (Ahiru's are in full mittens, which confused me all the more while I was trying to draw her holding that booklet).
And this next one I actually started quite awhile ago. It was supposed to go with a K&Q theme for "Illusion", that I still haven't finished writing. The first thing you're going to notice is that Ahiru is abnormally tall. That's intentional. I'm not going to go into detail about what the little fic plot was, but Ahiru's basically aging faster than Fakir is, due to being a duck (this whole dance thing they're doing here, which is in the water and in front of a moonlit waterfall scene (hence their wet hair), is actually an "illusion" created by Fakir's writing...hard to explain). Anyway, this probably looked better before I actually shaded it. Fakir's hair looks kind of weird now, as does his face (he looks kind of...girlish almost, which kind of bugs me). And I have no idea what I was thinking with Ahiru's outfit or his. >>;
But as you can probably see, for the pose itself, I based a pretty basic shape in there that's not too hard to spot, I hope. :P So...yeah. Angsty!Fakiru dancing.
And this one, featuring Fakir and Ahiru again, was just some silly idea I had. And I wanted to try a new sort of shading technique with it (not as dark as I usually do and kind of sparse). I guess they're in some kind of garden, probably by the Academy grounds or the like - though only there at the same time by coincidence. Ahiru is singing with the bird, which I guess sort of caught Fakir's attention, but he's not actually turning around or anything. ...And then I just filled it up with a background for once. Garg, so many bushes and trees and things. And no, I can't draw animals. Please do not focus on the little birdy. ;_;
You can probably see the big smudgy areas. They turned my hand kind of...yucky with graphite. But they kept getting smudged every time I erased parts, so I finally just left them alone. For the record, they were both pretty fun to draw in this piece. The different perspective on it was interesting to work with.
And now for what I was chatting to two of you about on AIM a little.... I got inspired somehow to draw offspring. XD;
This is my take on Fakir and Ahiru's daughters (which I hope is at least somewhat plausible, appearance-wise. And yes, somehow in my head, I'm positive they'd have two daughters. I don't know why.) I named them Lise and Dafne, both of which are German names. Lise is the little one, with a bit a of a stronger resemblance to Ahiru (her hair is a pretty solid red-orange color, but she's got Fakir's green eyes :P). She's generally pretty shy and a little clumsy and looks up to her big sister. And that would be Dafne. ...I must have redrawn her hair about 8 times. -_-; And I'm still not sure about it. Probably hard to tell, but there's a bow holding it back. She's got like...the bad luck parts of hair from both of her parents - Fakir's poofiness (probably a little too much poof) and Ahiru's sticky-outty parts (though that one big curl is actually sticking out from the back of her hair, not the front). Definitely a shade of hair close to Fakir's but she's got Ahiru's blue eyes. And she's pretty much a tomboy, though Ahiru insists she wears girly clothing anyway. She plays with Fakir's sword when he's not watching and she's got a really nasty temper. Don't cross her or bother her little sister or she'll kick your butt. :D Or something. ...Yeah, I can't really draw kids and I think they looked a little better on paper before I scanned, but oh well. It was interesting to try.
...And of course, I was curious what Mytho and Rue's children would be like. I decided they would have a boy and a girl.
The boy's name is Gabriel. He's snotty and spoiled, and hates dressing like a 'little Prince', hence his unpleasant expression. But he's strong-willed and does look after his little sister. His shade of hair is actually a sort of white with golden-brown undertones and mixes both Mytho and Rue's hair style in little similar ways, and he's got Rue's crimson eye color. His adorable little sister poking out from behind him is Adelaine (I was torn between that or Arabelle, still not entirely sure). She's energetic and generally cheerful, but also very sweet...and prone to emotional issues. She's also got the white hair, but the undertones are a violet-ish color, and she's got Mytho's golden-brown colored eyes. The hair, again, is kind of a cross between Mytho and Rue both.
I dunno much about kid proportions, as should be obvious from this endeavor on both pieces, but I hope they kind look like kids instead of chibis or something. >>;
So uh...yeah. :x I was pretty busy in the art department for the last day or two. Comments are always welcome and appreciated, and criticisms are especially encouraged, particularly if you can give any pointers on the things I mentioned having trouble with. XD;
Thank you for taking the time to look (and/or read if you actually got through all that. >>; ). Hope you enjoy~
