i am busy busy busy studying, but i had to check an email from a classmate and while i was at it, i sort of got side-tracked and found a lot of interesting things in the news today. check it out:
Drug Industry Is Told to Stop Gifts to Doctors
The government warned pharmaceutical companies on Monday
that they must not offer any incentives to health care
professionals to recommend particular drugs.
it's about damn time. if they can pull that off, it will make me so happy. it's becomming as corrupt as politics for christ's sake.
Europeans to Exempt U.S. From War Court
The European Union agreed on Monday to exempt Americans from
prosecution for war crimes at the International Criminal
Court.
now THAT'S power!
AOL Chairman's No. 1 Ally Turns Into His Biggest Foe
Two years after America Online agreed to acquire Time
Warner, Ted Turner has soured on both the merger and
Stephen Case, its principal architect.
HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! i soured on aol a looong time ago...ted, come on, aol, jane fonda...ya gotta get back on track here dude...
i was also watching bbc world news (it's so awesome! completely objective and they'll show more of and talk more about the gritty stuff that american reporters find taboo) while i was eating dinner, and the hole in the ozone is actually shrinking. it's the smallest it's been in 15 years and instead of one giant hole, there are two much smaller holes. i find this to be very good news indeed! i just hope that we can keep it up.
so an iraqi representative and the un's weapon's specialist came to an agreement today in venice about checking up on all saddam's little play toys. sounds good, but i am still skeptical. i'm sure he has hundreds of secret facilities/bunkers/etc. that we have no idea about. plus, he's had 4 years (under heavy observation, but still, they do this shit underground man!) to move anything that could place him in a comprimising position. i don't buy it. all of these "good intentions" are temporary at best. i don't want to imply that war is inevitable (i hope that it can be avoided) but it's looking worse and worse everyday. and we can't blame it all on dubya, trigger-happy as he may be...saddam is NOT a nice person and he should not be treated as such. he has proven time and time again that he is not to be trusted.
a prominent german banker's 10 year old son was killed even after his parents paid the kidnappers a million euros as per request for the ransom. that's fucked up.
i think that the economy should get better now so that christian can get a job that he actually likes.
that is all.
