whoops!

oh yeah. it's almost april. roman just turned 4 months on sunday. it was march 14 or 3.14, or pi, so we made key lime pie. my mom has been living with us this entire time and though i have to say it was super super rough in the beginning, and though really our apartment was barely made for 2 people, much less 3 and a baby, i am going to be sad to see her go. not least because she takes such great care of our son, but also i know he will miss her, as much as babies miss anyone, and of course she will miss him like crazy. but we're flying back out to michigan 2 weeks after she leaves so roman can meet the rest of his family and get baptized (don't ask) at our lady of sorrows, where mike and i got married. and i know she and my dad will be back soon. nothing like having a baby to get your family to visit.

i am taking off the month of april on paid family leave to bond with roman before he starts daycare in may. i am not excited for daycare. and not only because it's $1300 a week. the woman, ivonne, is really nice and really seems to love kids and her place looks fun and i think roman will be ok. but there is nothing like one on one attention from grandma and ivonne's will be a far cry from that--she sometimes has 14 kids! usually only one or two infants, and of course she has 2 helpers, but really, not the same. i am worried, even though i know he will be fine.

i wish i could stop working or even work part time but mike still hasn't officially been hired at sephora, even though his "holiday" temp job is still going strong and doesn't seem to have an end date. it makes me very angry and frustrated at sephora, but hey, they're a huge company and don't give a crap about me paying for daycare.

anyway, being a mom is great. roman is wonderful. still not sleeping through the night, and not anywhere close to it, but seems to be doing ok. might be beginning to start teething. we can start feeding him "solid" (as much as rice gruel is a solid) food in 2 months! he is enormous...almost 15.5 pounds. and of course incredibly adorable, although he still has a bit of lingering flakiness from his cradle cap.

it was an ok 3 months back at work but i can't wait to take one more month off to spend with my little guy! and to introduce him to my family and friends back in michigan. maybe i'll even update this journal when i get back! roman has been taking increasingly longer naps in his crib (as opposed to before when we had to hold him all day or he wouldn't sleep), so who knows? but don't hold your breath.
